On today’s podcast, James Sharman chats with former Major Indoor Soccer League star Simon Keith. The Victoria, BC native played for the Canadian national team before their only World Cup appearance and just months before the trip to Mexico, learned he had a fatal heart condition and required a heart transplant.

He was told he wasn’t “sick enough” to get one in Canada. Born in England, Keith used his NHS benefits to get on a waiting list and did receive a heart transplant thanks to the most ironic of circumstances. Keith went on to play soccer at UNLV and was a top MISL draft pick. You have to hear his story to believe it.

There’s also a book on the way which you can contribute to. Click here to find out more and get involved.
