In my ongoing effort to convince you of the utter, soul-destroying meaninglessness of the January transfer window, I’m continuing my series with Borussia Moechengladbach’s latest £308,000 loan deal for Wolfsburg’s Mohamed “Tolga” Cigerci.

Cigerci, a midfielder and German youth international (which means he will be scarily amazing in a few years), made two Bundesliga appearances last season with the club, and spent this year with the reserve side in the Regionalliga Nord. He doesn’t have an English Wiki page, so there are some delicious quotes from his Google translated Turkish version, including the revelation that, “During the 2008-09 season Wolfsburg U-17 started to wear shirts.”

From that same page we also learn that “coach Steve McClaren was increased by the A team,” which should bode well for him on his time at FC Twente, where surely he will pity the fool to question his prowess in the technical area.
