  1. 2 mediocre teams with an excellent draw. If you’re banking Russia’s success on the renaissance of Arshavin be prepared for a long wait. Trust me I’m an Arsenal supporter.

That said, we have seen Czech’s Rosicky as a renaissance man himself this season for us. Maybe the Czech’s will do the same…

  2. I’m as big a fan of JW and TheBlizzard quarterly as the next guy, but are you just going to stick to TheGuardian mafia for all of these previews or actually get in some guests who are local experts for these countries?

  3. You stay on the edge with your creativity as always Richard. Great videos, thanks for the resource!

  4. Agree with JW, Russia are good, but past their best.

Also, no love for Czech striker and European Cup winner Milan Baros? ;)

  5. This preview forgot to mention that Dzagoev broke his toe, he should be available for the first game though. I highly disagree with your views on Akinfeev, Ive watched several games since his return from injury and he still looks world class. Also you failed to mention Zhirkov and Anyukov, Russians LB and RB’s are key to their success. Zhirkov in my opinion is the best player on the Russian squad. I predict the Russians will easily advance from this group, as you mentioned they were very fortunate to be in it. As for the team being similar to the past, it is not a bad thing… the midfield is composed of Denisov, Shirokov and maybe Zyryanov, all of whom play together everyday for Zenit.
