Thank god for that:

Gareth Bale has signed a new four-year contract at Tottenham Hotspur, committing his future to the club until 2016.

The 2011 PFA Player of the Year has decided to stay at White Hart Lane for the immediate future at least, despite concerns that he might look for a move elsewhere after Spurs failed to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Spurs meanwhile are in the precarious position of negotiating player deals ahead of appointing Andre Villas-Boas a new manager, and without the much-touted leverage of Champions League football. Modric meanwhile is likely on the way out. They might ask Andrea Pirlo to come over from Juventus but he’s too “homophobic” for the Premier League.

  1. Just shows how ridiculous the Spanish press is. It wasn’t that long ago that Bale had apparently signed for Barcelona, then, first and only thing we hear from the player himself, new 4 year contract! Sad thing is the Spanish press won’t even feel embarrassed about this and keep running ridiculous and unfounded stories.

  2. I think they would get better value with Jordi Alba anyways instead of shelling out 40 million
