So to get Luka Modric, Real Madrid must pay Tottenham £35 million, except Real is only going to pay £25 million, but the deal is “done” with Spurs getting less than what they wanted (headline maybe not up-to-date?), except Modric won’t go anywhere until Tottenham buy a similar player, which means, presumably, if they don’t get one in time for the August 31st transfer window, the deal won’t be ‘done’ after all.
