Though the scoreline reflects otherwise, Toronto FC played pretty damn well in the opening stages of last night’s game in New York. Luis Silva was sent in alone only to be foiled by the post. Minutes later Ryan Johnson unleashed an absolute screamer – a goal of the year candidate – to put the visitors ahead.

Unfortunately this joy would be short lived. Thierry Henry went off – three assists and a beauty of a goal – and the Red Bulls coasted to a 4-1 victory. Sitting at second place in the division, New York is all but assured a place in the playoffs.

This Opta heatmap gives us a glimpse of how good Henry was last night. The Frenchman continues to prove age is only a number.

  1. Did Henry even sprint once? You think that last goal he jsut couldn’t be bothered? ahah

Its like highschool soccer, only a few guys are really soccer players, the rest of the kids are just athletes that are making up numbers.

    • I mean for the gulf in talent between a legend and your average mls player…

    • Yes, he made a big sprint to keep a long ball from going out for a goal kick in the second half, was then 1 v 1 against Eckersley, but ended up getting dispossessed in that duel. Probably just ran out of gas for the moment
