Scenes from the FA Cup third round

The beauty of the third round. The magic of the third round. The unpredictability of the third round. Many more cliches were uttered this morning as the most exciting knockout competition in the world — according to my twitter timeline at least — began its third round.

The day began with an ‘upset’ at Falmer Stadium as Brighton knocked off 10 man Newcastle. This wasn’t a shocker. Alan Pardew fielded an extremely inexperienced side that was up against it after Shola Ameobi’s second yellow in the 63rd minute.

Yea, that wasn’t deserved. Since 1998, at least one Premier League side has been eliminated in the third round by a team from the bottom two tiers. Would that happen today? Let’s take a tour.

Things continue to go terribly for Villa. They trail Ipswich Town 1-0 at the half.

Dream big.

A bad day for the scalpers at Reebok Stadium.

Damn students get all the deals.

"Can you talk to Roberto for me?" "Naw."

When I move you move.

Grabbin' some chips outside of Roots Hall.

Love it. Stay tuned for some more F.A Cup goodness this afternoon. Macclesfield Town, Manchester United and more are yet to come.
