The Champions League draw. What is there to add? Have a gander above and you can create any build-up narrative you like. There’s Zlatan’s revenge against Barca. There’s plucky, financially ruined Malaga against domestically out-of-form Dortmund. There’s the easy tie in Real Madrid v Galatasaray, and finally there’s Bayern Munich v Juventus, which is likely the connoisseur’s choice. All very attractive. What a coincidence klaxon.

England is in a tizzy of course because they’ve bombed out of the Big Cup completely, but should take consolation that three Premier League clubs are in the final eight of the Europa League. Moreover—whata a coincidence klaxon—they’ve been kept apart. An all-English final is a real possibility.

But it wasn’t all business: Leonardo used the occasion to propose to his girlfriend—Sky presenter Anna Billo—live on Sky Italia. Which wasn’t awkward at all. She said, “okay.” It was so cute, it’s almost as if it was sta—what a coincidence klaxon.

Sorry for the doubt but it’s been a trying couple of days.

  1. Interesting fact: Beckham is the only English player in the QFs of the CL

Another interesting fact: My 151:1 pre-Round of 16 punt on Galatasaray isn’t looking so great after today’s draw

  2. All teams showed some weaknesses in the round of 16 (except Juve, but they had the easy draw). This is partly a function of the quality of opposition at the knockout stages of the CL, but I also think it indicates there is not a clear favourite.

Obviously Gala and Malaga are the weaker sides, but of the other six I think any could take it.

I’m hoping for semi’s of Dortmund v. Munich and Madrid v. Barcelona. (think its dumb that teams from same country can’t be draw against each other in the QFs).

  3. Bayen vs Juve … mouth watering. Richard, a lot of podcast`s from the archive aren’t working. I need answers
