Really, Jays? A 12:35 PM ET start on a Thursday?

Not cool. In fact, it’s so not cool that I’m barely going to make this a Game Threat– even though today marks the (much anticipated?) debut of Zach Stewart on the mound for the Jays.

But no.. I’m just going to point out to you that you ought to get your Twitter fingers a-twittering during the game, so that you can send questions to Parkes and I (@DustinParkes and @AndrewStoeten), as we get set to bring you another edition of Getting Streamed On for theScore.com, which will start immediately following the conclusion of the game.

You can launch the stream player here.

Jays Days

So here’s something I should totally have pointed out already: our friends at Opera Bob’s Public House– a fantastic little bar at Dundas and Ossington here in Toronto– are kicking off their Jays Days series this Friday, wherein they aim to create some stadium atmosphere, with “a gameday host, MLB trivia, prize giveaways, ballpark dogs, bagged popcorn, peanuts and other food and drink specials.”

You can read more about it and check the schedule for more games at their Jays Days blog.

Now, normally this is something that we’d be all over, but I must admit, this Friday Parkes has a wedding rehearsal (congrats, Danimal and Alana!) and I have a NXNE showcase to play, so… I don’t think we’re actually going to be able to make it out for the inaugural night. But why the hell should that stop anybody from going and enjoying the ballgame at a super baseball-friendly bar?

  1. I am not usually pleased by ignorance of other languages, but I must admit that I was blissful until I learned that “Rauch” is German for “smoke”.

  2. Fuck Laynce Nix and his little brother.

  3. Jason Frasor…The perfect change of pace to Zach Stewart’s catch ball, pitch ball philosophy…Just out for a Sunday stroll.

…And FUCK!!! The OriLOLs (hat tip Roy-Z) go back out in front.

  4. Day game curse in full effect.

  5. I thought it was German for fuck up.

  6. Why the fuck does Rauch have a job? Must be because he’s a giant meatwad, he sure as shit can’t pitch and he’s dumb as fucking dirt.

  7. Sun was shining while they were burning cars.

    HA HA

  8. He looks like a fucking retard as well.

  9. Would you tell a guy who’s 10 feet tall and his eyes are a foot apart that he’s fired? Fuck that.

  10. Jays can’t win weekday matinee games.  It’s fucking disturbing.

  11. I think this game is being umpired by ear, jesus

  12. He and Britney Spears would make a cute couple with the eye thing.

  13. He’s got a neck tattoo…International sign of idiocy.

If he had a helmet on and Juggalo paint the guy couldn’t look dumber.

He can’t fucking pitch. The big oaf simply has nothing. They should drive him out to the woods, no chance he finds his way home.

  14. Why oh why, do I bother with this team?

  15. switch the word cute with the word creepy and you’re spot on.

  16. Meet Vancouver’s Reginald Denny, insane. Sure, just a handful of troublemakers, and a lot of mob passengers/sheep.

  17. Showalter is going to manage the shit out of this game.

  18. Stewart seems to be the only piece left of teh Rolen trade. Roenike was DFA’d, E5 is hopeless.

It’s too bad Rolen requested a trade. The Jays could have used him last year & this year as a bridge to Lawrie.

  19. Jays can’t pull off the sweep. I propose the city of Toronto to have a riot outside of Rogers Centre for this clusterfuck of a 9th inning.

  20. Der Dumkopf Rauch reminds me of this

  21. I completely and wholeheartedly disagree with this. I would rather have stewart for the next five years than rolen for the past two, every time.

They took a gamble on roenicke, best case he was a cheap bullpen arm and encarnacion was a salary dump/retread attempt, given he could be be better. I think the jays make that trade for stewart straight up if they could, I would

  22. a Kevin Gregg 9th is just what the doctor ordered for a fun afternoon comeback, right. I am calling it here, 3:02

  23. this could be a good idea… if the good ol’ rc skydome were to burn down rogers could use the insurance money to buy a nice new park with real grass. the world’s fastest grounds crew might suffer from actually having ground to work on but it’s a small price to pay.

  24. That inning should have been far more disgusting than that.

  25. Good to have you back in Toronto Mr Gregg

  26. Fuck.  Too bad it’s only a solo shot.

  27. BOOM!

  28. Hill with his usual timely pop up at worst of fucking times.

  29. I’d agree with you if it wasn’t the pop-up brigade that was coming up in Hill and E5.

  30. E5…waste of air.

  31. Oh Aaron and Edwin. Leave the home run hitting to Adam Lind.

  32. Stewart was always the only piece of the Rolen trade.

  33. Should have pinch hit for EE. McCoy, Janssen who cares who they use.

  34. shockingly the jays can’t win a day game AGAIN

  35. So, they gain one game on Baltimore in this series when they could have gained 3 if anybody other than Bautista and Lind could fucking hit on this team.

  36. I LIKE IT

THEN ROGERS WILL FORGIVE ALL CELL PHONE CONTRACTS AND THE MAGGOTY CORPSE OF TED WILL RISE AND SAY…MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE

    COULD HAPPEN, I GUESS

  37. E5 is as close to useless as you can get. He is 28 and can’t play 1B or 3B without leading the league in errors.

He gets hits when the team is down by or up by 5 runs.

He is anti clutch & takes a way a DH roster spot from Thames or Cooper.

Of course we all look forward to him hitting 5 HR’s in one series this year.

  38. Casey Janssen to DL with forearm strain. Best pitcher in the bullpen currently. FUCK! FUCK! FUCK!

  39. Honest question here

Who thinks Hill was juicing in 2009? I mean the guy is 5’8″ with heels on, he had that odd body that year, that Bret Boone, Lenny Dykstra body and he was coming off a lost season.

He was sprinkling HGH like parmesan cheese if you ask me.

  40. Oh God you are kidding me!!  Fuuuuuck.

  41. Weren’t they already testing for stuff then?  Because 2009 was when Ryan came back after the winter looking like he was a poster-boy for Jenny Craig.  Must have lost 30+% of his body weight that off-season…

  42. There STILL is no test for HGH

  43. A t least we have Jon “not the Zodiac” Rauch

  44. You know, all these Jays going down like flies and there’s old E5 walking around, healthy as hell.  Doesn’t seem right somehow…

  45. Jesus, now we’re getting idiots wasting interwebs space on articles titled: “What’s wrong with Jose Bautista?”. I refuse to link to it because I don’t want Bleacher Report getting anymore hits than they already get, for churning out this useless drivel. What’s wrong with him, you tard, is that he’s not Babe fucking Ruth mmmkay? Kee-rist almighty.

  46. Rolen was a gold glove on defense which helps with a young pitching staff. He could also hit 280 with 20 plus HR .

E5 & Roenickie have done nothing. E5′s hits into another double play when the jays needed runs.

The jays have more than enough retreads. We don’t need the reds retreads.

This is zach stewart’s first game. He wasn’t lights out in AA.

  47. The injury bug hits the jays again. If you’re a decent pitcher like janssen or litsch you go to the DL. If you are a disaster like francisco or E5 you stay healthy.

  48. I loved Rolen too, but he didn’t want to be here, and the fact that we may get a mid to back of the rotation pitcher under control for six years is fine by me. He’s a pitcher, so he has value, not only for how he pitches for us, but what he can bring in trade should AA eventually decide to go in a different direction.

  49. Fair point.Stewart did well today. I am curious to see how he pithes against tougher opponents.

  50. and no proof that it actually improves performance.

  51. Exactly.

  52. I am not impressed with Zach Stewart.

  53. Tom Jackson Drabek was pitching well than they decide Jp needs to catch him and he struggles the same with morrow…………..The love affair with JP is a joke 10 homers but pitchers struggle is it really worth it

  54.  Why?

  55. It’s the right call for three reasons: 1) Morrow has actually pitched far better with Arencibia catching him this year (with the usual SSS warnings), 2) Molina has no future with the Jays, so sooner or later these guys are gonna have to learn to pitch to Arencibia anyway…Why not now?…and 3) Jose Molina has a fucking Iron (Clank!) Glove. Yes he’s good at throwing runners out, but his pitch blocking skills are an atrocity.

With Arencibia catching Morrow, hitters have batted:

    .217/.295/.348/.643   against him.

For Molina, those numbers are:   .285/.361/.389/.750

Have Molina be Drabek’s personal catcher when he gets back, but Morrow has shown he’s ready to move on. While Drabek has pitched better to Molina, he has been extremely wild regardless of who is behind the plate, and that’s why he’s in Las Vegas right now.

  56. What is unimpressive about Zach Stewart to you?
