Just a quick note to update you on some of the leftover issues with our move here to theScore.com…

- The redirect from www.drunkjaysfans.com to here (and not to the generic blogs.thescore.com, without our subdomain) seems to have started working for some, but not yet for others– myself included. It will be fixed, it’s of the highest priority, but right now we’re just going to have to be patient.

- By far the most frequent complaint I’ve heard is that the site is not very compliant with mobile devices. Yes, we are very aware of this, and yes, a solution is in the works. Unfortunately, again, I’m going to have to ask for your patience. Might I suggest getting a mobile RSS reader in the meantime and subscribing to the feed?

- Speaking of subscribing to stuff, Facebook, everybody. Facebook. New home of our Smokin’ Polls! Watch for a new one soon…

- If there are any other issues you’re experiencing, the comments of this post would be as good a place as any to mention them.

- In news that is of interest to nobody but me, despite the stripped-down look of the comments compared to Disqus, I’m happy to report that moderating and troll-banning features are working nicely. Buh-bye DeadBJHopes!

- Lastly, a few people have pointed out that the masthead looks like the KFC logo. Um…

  1. the simpsons video made me spit a little water on my keyboard.

  2. OK, I have to ask….

Who is the dude in the masthead (and your twitter profile pic)? I am guessing it isn’t you.

  3. He’s the epitome of a Drunk Jays Fan, is who he is.

  4. I’m convinced that people who don’t understand the joke are either teenagers or people who lived under a rock when KFC rebranded.

    • Yeah, because what kind of ignorant SOB would have not been aware of the rebranding of a fried chicken restaurant chain, amirite? (did I do that correctly?)

  5. When viewed in a not full screen mode (at work mode), the horizontal bar does not allow you to shift all the way to the left, which cuts off the first few words of every line. It’s Oritz is up to bat and you’re putting the shift on.

  6. “I’m happy to report that moderating and troll-banning features are working nicely.”

Perhaps, you could publish the rules of netiquette, so we don’t inadvertantly get banned or moderated?
    It’s a serious question.
We’ve had our agreements and disagreements in the past,I need to know the limits of what can be debated or discussed.
If I cross the line, I need to know where the line is.
And it’s not just you but the interaction with the other commenters.
BFF and I have had some wild disagreements in the past.I still respect some of his views and ideas, others I don’t.The debate I have with him can change my viewpoint.
It’s one of the reasons I’m here.

Any policy, you or The Score, have that can enlighten me, would help.

    • I think this is the policy:

      Your Conduct

In addition to the copyright and intellectual property rules set out in these Terms of Use, your use of the Site and its interactive features is subject to your compliance with the following conduct guidelines:

You may not to post, transmit, link to or otherwise distribute falsehoods or misrepresentations that could damage us or any third party.
You may not to post, transmit, link to or otherwise distribute any material that is unlawful, obscene, profane, defamatory, libelous, threatening, pornographic, harassing, hateful, racially or ethnically offensive, or encourages conduct that would be considered a criminal offence, give rise to civil liability, violate any law, violate the legal rights of any person (including publicity or privacy rights) or is otherwise inappropriate or would restrict or inhibit any other user from using or enjoying the Site. You may not post, transmit, link to or otherwise distribute material that exploits people under the age of 18 in a sexual or violent manner, solicits personal information from anyone under the age of 18, provides information about illegal activities, such as making or buying illegal weapons, violates someone’s privacy, or provides information relating to the creation of computer viruses or other harmful or disruptive components. You also agree not to post, transmit, link to or otherwise distribute in any way information, software or other material that infringes the intellectual property rights of any party.

You may not impersonate or falsely suggest your association with another person, or submit materials in another person’s name.

      • Obscenities and profanity is prohibited? If that’s the case, we’re all fucked!

      • Nah.

I make it up as I go along, but it mostly involves freezing out people who only comment about how much I like cock. Or those who just want to bait people into a gigantic exercise of circular logic, because they think it’s funny to waste other people’s time. Or who are racist or otherwise pieces of shit.

        • My last comment was in response to Demarco.

          @ Stoeten
You’ve been accused of producing some content with “circular logic” and opposing viewpoints presented. Are they subject to being banned?

JB once said that he had all his playing stats from T Ball through to the age 23.
I called bullshit and proved he was lying.
Would that be enough to get banned?

BTW An edit button would be helpfull.

        • May I occasionally say:

          “Fuck off Parkes.”

          Or will I get banned?

      • Great.

        DJF LITE

Available now with less opinions, information and links.

Can I still chew gum while commenting?

        Seriously though,thanks for the info.

        • Holy fuck you love conclusion jumping, eh? Why would you accept an answer on this from anyone but someone who runs the site? Fuck sakes.

  7. I like how things look here.

I do, however, miss the twitter feeds that were on the side of the dfj.com site.

I’m looking forward to subscribing to the podcasts.

  8. I count four people in that picture that are smoking. Oh, the good old days.

  9. We can still impersonate people?

  10. I’m having a similar problem to Patrick, except for me the text is cut off when I snap the window to the side of my screen. There’s no scroll bar and like two centimetres of text is cut off.

  11. “You may not to post, transmit, link to or otherwise distribute falsehoods or misrepresentations that could damage us or any third party.”

Does that mean Cito won’t be able to post anymore? If so, boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

    • While I believe technically that is the case, anyone with a sense of humor would be able to be objective about it.

      • I’m Wolf Blitzer mother fuckers. I post what I want where ever the Fuck I want. I’m also from Buffalo.

  12. Got the KFC reference in the masthead. It’s a nice little joke for the launch but I’d look at redoing it soon. Needs to be more Jays Fan-y and way more Drunker-er. Although the guy in the source material is halfway there.

    • You mean like the bird on the yellow background was?

      • The bird with the yellow background had “Drunk dirty old man Blue Jays fan”all over it. The new masthead looks like you should rename the site to DKFBJF. It might actually get some acclaim in cottage country.

      • That masthead made little sense, which was it’s appeal. This moves more into literal territory but doesn’t go far enough. At least work in the beer and smoke from the original photo.

        • I dunno.. Drunk Kentucky Fried Blue Jays Fans… may have more relevance and appeal nowadays.

  13. I am love with the KFC style logo, although he should have the cigarette in his hand, much like the real image (on this post). THAT would be Nails, much. No?

  14. We need like and dislike buttons on comments.

  15. -When you click on “reply” your response goes under the original post instead of at the bottom. This is good, in that you can clearly see what people are responding to, but bad in that you might not notice somebody has replied to you (and we are all probably used to the disqus method, which just stuck ‘em at the bottom).
During game threats, can we encourage posting a new comment instead of replying as much as possible, just so we can immediately scroll to the bottom of the page?

-I miss avatars, because it’s how I identify people. Sorry for posting this multiple times.

  16. I used to have huge problems with getting blanked on my blackberry … Thank god for my iPhone 4s

  17. Not sure if this falls into general mobile issues but any attempt at zooming in and out makes the text get beaucoups blurry, makes me feel like a drunk jays fan trying to read it.

  18. -Rex Murphy quote (top priority)
-Avatars (hard to recongnize Radar’s posts when you’re scrolling fast)
-Where in the fuck is Ice Cream Jonesy ?

  19. It’s all fine. Stop whining everyone. The best part is posts early and posts often. Don’t burn out Stoeten.

  20. So the joke is that you are fat, and therefore like to eat fried chicken, so your logo resembles that of a fried chicken restaurant? Hilarious.

  21. Mobile concern:

When clicking “read the rest of this entry” or “comments”, the page forces me to wait about 30 seconds to scroll – well, I can scroll, but it zips me back to the part of the page ad naseum until it is fully loaded. A problem that’s dogged me on Getting Blanked. I’m an iPhone 4 user, and this may seem petty but I would maim a live chicken to make it stop, if that’s anything that’s under your power.
