Now it’s time for all the stuff I don’t figure on making full posts out of, with the spiffy graphic by Matt English (aka @mattomic). It’s your Mid-Afternoon Snack…

Be sure to like us on Facebook to vote in our new Smokin’ Poll– Should we be concerned about Brett Cecil’s velocity? Or… actually… you probably can answer if you don’t like the page, but that’d be a real dick move.

At Getting Blanked, Drew examines recent statements from that Wiener who heads the MLBPA, who insists Jose Bautista isn’t being targeted by MLB drug testers. Elsewhere at Getting Blanked, Darren from Extra Base Hit gives an AL East facts and figures primer– with a bold prediction in the standings.

Baseball Think Factory passes along a press release from New Brunswick, announcing that Matt Stairs has made that province’s Sports Hall of Fame– which includes a photo that I was so hoping¬†was going of a young Matty.

Bluebird Banter again figures they don’t need to link the Gregor Chisholm tweet they’re quoting. Odd. The Jays have sent Hechavarria, Magnuson and Sierra to minor league camp, FYI.

MLB Trade Rumors passes along that the Jays have signed infielder Ruben Gotay, as per Kevin Goldstein. Gotay hasn’t played in the Majors since 2008.

No, I’m not¬†remotely interested in passing along any of the articles about the Jays playing a bunch of Canadian kids. Sorry.

Lastly, Steal of Home have compiled their consensus list of Jays prospects, combining 15 organizational lists from mostly respectable sources, and determining that Jake Marisnick gets the second-most love, behind Travis d’Arnaud. No major surprises follow, but it’s an interesting list, and has lots of prospect-y links.

  1. A little strange that they sent Hechavarria down. He was having a decent spring, for whatever 18 PA’s are worth–nothing.

    • Not really strange. There was never any question that any of those three guys would break camp with the big club. Players in that situation get re-assigned pretty early in Spring Training regardless of performance.

      • Well it’s not like I thought Hechavarria would break the big club, but figured he earned sticking around a little longer. He’d learn more from being around guys like Escobar than guys in the minors IMO.

    • He’ll get more ABs in minor league camp.

  2. A bit off topic but a serious request.

Has anybody seen a link to the changes in the official scorer’s decisions?

Heard part of it on PTS last week with Perkins (I think) and it could change some future stats (admitedly in a minor way). Not earth shattering but I’m curious.

  3. Mmmm that Stairs moustache

  4. Nothing like the Jays kicking the shit out of the Yankees to put a smile on my face.

  5. Thanks, call me crazy but the whole maple boners thing screams of writers looking to create a narrative sort of thing. Not really my thing.

  6. Thanks for not including the “Canadian connection” links. Seriously. It’s tiresome (looking at you, National Post).

  7. sorry but i rather enjoy a good maple boner….my little way of enjoying being a canuk

  8. RE the last link – did anyone notice this post…
