Brett Cecil giving us a preview of his reaction to tonight’s batting practice.
Seriously, guys. Just keep it in the damn ballpark and cross your fingers that somebody gets lucky against Sabathia.
Not much else to say, is there?
Scuttlebutt
Not a whole lot of scuttlebutt here, either, as I went with the late link dump this afternoon. But if you’re really jonesing for something to read, how about checking out some of the long-form-ish stuff we’ve been doing lately: Gose Will Get the Call, But Whither Snider?, The Shift Keeps Paying Dividends, The Time is Now for Anthopoulos to Deal, On Francisco Cordero, and Taking the Long View….

welcome to the bigs kiddo
Welcome to MLB rookie
Ya, he’s got a couple of boo boos to tone down his arrogance and keep him a little humble.
im outta here till the next series
Aw c’mon…you got another game tomorrow!!
I SCOFF AT YOU BLUE JAYS.
I NOT ONLY CAUSE YOU TO LOSE, I MAKE IT HAPPEN IN WEIRD AND COMICAL FASHION.
HA HA HA HA HA
Just depressing.
Jingle bells, John Farrell smells
Tony Gose laid an egg…
The Beestmobile lost it’s wheel
And the Joker got away! Hey!
Swisher did have a pretty good game, I guess.
I fart in your general direction. Nix however…
Swingin’, Bob. However, please be informed that you’re dead, I mean really, really dead, not just ‘stinkin’ the place up’ dead. Sorry to have to be the one who breaks the bad news, fella. Please croon no more.
Welp, that was entertaining…
real fun. I am glad that I PVR every game. I don’t know if I could watch without it. Make the painful Buck and Tab “big and strong moments” zoom on by.

not sure why they’re burning coco in a low leverage situation?
where the fuck is upton and 2 pitchers
Still with their respective teams…
fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck
a little prospect porn it is then: Marisnick 2 hits in each of 5 of his last 6 games with New Hampshire and Stilson could be the next AA pitcher to get a look
and Sean O’Sullivan has only given up 2 ERs in 26 innings since joining the Jays – though he really sucked with the Royals/Omaha
wasn’t sean O’sullivan a canadian boxer back in the day
+1
You know Jake could really use a name change. Marisnick…Nick Maris – that’s it !
Why the fuck isn’t Brian Fuentes on our team yet? I know I know, he is shit, but…
Tonight I turned the corner, thank you Yankees for pushing the button to officially put me in “I dont give a fuck” mode. That time comes every year for me with both the Leafs and the Jays but this year it feels just a little more sour.
So many other people I’d like to thank… where to start.
Eric Thames – what can I say man, I saw pictures of you in the offseason looking all ripped up and envisioned you being the man this year brother but then your bed shitting started. Much love and thanks for being the AAAA player I hoped you werent.
Dwayne Murphy – You know there’s a whole other side to the baseball field right? Bah fuck it, who needs it. Instead of preaching that hitters hit all over the field you instruct to hit down that pull field line on nothing but inside fastballs, well done, Aaron Hill sends his regards and a middle finger from Arizona. Oh and thank you for leaving that hitch in Brett Lawrie’s swing or teaching him even the slightest thing about hitting breaking pitches or using his lower body. I am sure your instruction will do wonders for his career
Coco – You were the man for a lot of years, when I saw your name pop up as signed with the blue Jays I thought, wow that’s going to be a solid 8/9 inning combo. I am so glad you decided to pick this year with this team to show everyone that your stuff is gone.
Kenny Williams – Do I ever owe you a handshake for sending us a closer to get excited about, so excited that no one really asked how the Jays obtained such a great closer, signed cheap and coming off a career establishing year for only a single prospect. You knew his arm was about to fall off and to you,,, I say thanks
David Pauley, Jesse Chavez, Robert Coello, and the other superstars featured in this year’s bullpen, thank you kindly for keeping the spirit of Brian Tallet alive and well. You all win the Brian Tallet award for participation. This award symbolizes hard work and excellence in your craft.
Aaron Hill – Thanks for hitting for the cycle twice bro, Kelly Johnson is making you look better and better every day during his quest to NOT be a type A free agent this off season, say hello to Johnny Mac for me.
Every pitching coach thats ever come into contact with Brett Cecil – Thank you for not teaching him to throw a fastball below the belt, his conditioning was obviously a huge issue and all the weight watchers and vegetable eating has done him worlds of good. It would have been actual work to work on his delivery and release point right?
The baseball injury gods – your domination of the starting rotation on this team will go down in history, sure Aaron Laffey, Carlos and others have stepped in and done well but in their absence the bullpen was left on auto pilot and it left moron Jays fans blaming Farrell for having to put shitballers into games rather than forcing Oliver and Janssen to come in to pitch every single inning of relief this season. Damn…..
AA – oh what can be said for AA,,,, FUCK YOU is what Im looking for. No one expects you to trade away the farm system for rentals but sitting around doing absolutely FUCK ALL to help the team out. Nice touch phoning in phony tips to Tim Dierkes and his band of complete fucking retards at MLBTR to make it seem like you were actually making calls and inquiring on players, getting our hopes up was awesome. And then holding onto all the prospects just puts more pressure on all of them to be franchise saving players in the future.
ahhhhhh that felt good. Now, Ill just kick my feet up and not give a fuck about the rest of this year. See you all next year around the same time.
I rather enjoyed this tirade. It makes us up here feel as if our work does not go unnoticed.
To call Gose willy taverez is understandable given your degree of frustration right now. But you will soon see that he is a far superior product in the making.
Let him prove it. But I remember the hype surrounding Willy Tavares as well. He’s lightning fast, he can field and throw with the great and once hit bat comes around he will be a superstar.
Same shit is being said about Gose, we shall see what happens.
That went well with my coffee, thanks!
Who was that man?
Fucking quiter
OH…. I forgot… to all you Anthony Gose lovers and hopefuls out there, Willy Tavares sends his regards from….. wherever the fuck he’s playing now.
It struck me that Bautista’s injury is the result of his inflamatory comments directed at AA earlier this week about getting more pitching. Joey should be careful, next time he will be playing in Vegas with Snider. Club house heritic’s to the BJ style of management have a tendency to find themselves working on there skills in dry, hot places.
Why is Davis and his .271 OBP over the last month hitting first? I think I’d take Francisco over Davis right now.
limit as wins in last ten games approaches zero, so does fan confidence in Farrell/Anthopolous/Players/Trainers/Murphy approach zero
Unfortunately can’t render math in a blog comment.
Sure you can, i started an imgur account to do that a couple of weeks ago.

The TV audience for game 1 of this series was above 1.5 million.
That’s pretty ridiculous.
Source for that?
Then again, according to the Canadian Sports Media blog, they were pulling 600k to 800k for the games against KC and Cleveland. So about double that for NYY wouldn’t be that surprising.
Arash Mandani (sp?) Tweeted that veiwer number yesterday.

thanks
That’s actually a ton of people given that the Yankees average about 300,000 local households per game. If only Jays fans supported their team, ownership might actually have some money to spend on free agents…

dear moderator, please delete this duplicate if you give a shit.
You know, here’s an argument for trading for a rental like Zach Greinke:
If the Jays wanted to sign him as a free agent, they will be surrendering their first round pick to do so. So the cost of signing him is already one elite prospect (given the Jays draft record). The likelihood of him signing a contract here, however, is probably not very high. If he gets an opportunity to play here for three months, gets to know the team and the city, the odds of him resigning go up considerably. (The exact improvement, however, is obviously unquantifiable). For the Brewers to consider trading Greinke they need to do better than one compensation pick. So depending on the Brewers preference, the cost will be at least two prospects. The question, I guess, is how much is the improved likelihood of Greinke signing in Toronto worth?
Toronto’s on his no-trade list I believe. I don’t he wants to come here.
I’m just using him as an example. Hamels would be the same.
And for the record, I don’t think they’re going to make a trade like that. I’m just rationalizing why they could.
Is it just me, or is July 31st taking forever to get here? Not that I want to shrink my summer vacation, but man, I can’t wait to see what’s gonna happen. This site and MLB Trader Rumors have a monopoly on my free time.
Its just you. I can’t wait for next April to read Stoeten’s patronizing article about how the Jays actually didn’t NEED to add any pitchers in the offseason and when the Jays are ready to compete, the money will obviously be there and anyone who thinks otherwise is a mouth breathing moron. One of my favorite rites of spring…
It’s just not healthy to be that cynical. Really. It can’t be very fun for you. I mean, it’s not very fun for me to read it. So it must be even less fun to actually be that way.
By your lack of reading comprehension, might I suggest that you deserve to be patronized?
Sadly, you would almost definitely be correct
AAAAAND having spent way more time than was professionally appropriate in the DJF archives I have absolutely failed at finding a post which combined those sentiments. Conclusion: I’m an asshole
