Chart explanation

I am completely in favour of playing two games a day to get this God forsaken season with as quickly as fucking possible.

  1. I’ve mentioned before that numerous other sources compile these graphs better, but your ‘Least Relevant’ stat is wrong. A player can have four huge ABs – +25% WPA, -25%, + 25%, – 25% – but the total WPA is 0% and so you deem him ‘not relevant’ to the game.

A statistic that would not be a lie would be to take the sum of the absolute values of all WPA and divide by ABs, which would call players ‘less relevant’ for actions that have little impact. Or the player with the lowest average leverage index. Or anything that’s not a total misinterpretation.

    • Or you could not be a dick. That might work too.

      • +25

      • The “Least Relevant” statistic was added by request of a commentor as something to add to the chart for fun. I’ll change the syntax on it just for you tomorrow.

As for “I’ve mentioned before that numerous other sources compile these graphs better” I’m sure there are a number of places like that, but how many of them allow you to leave dickhole comments at the bottom?

  2. It was nice to see two really solid pitching performances from Alvarez and Romero.

    • Are you nuts or am I missing some sarcasm? Does allowing 12 baserunners through 6 qualify as good? Romero was not on the ball.

Based on my viewing on gameday, though, he was squeezed on the outside.

      • He’s been squeezed a lot lately. Doesn’t help that he isn’t getting a single borderline pitch. What sucks the most is you can predict when he’s going to run into trouble, because it’s usually the ump not giving him a call on a borderline 3-2 pitch – runner on, he gets frustrated, and can’t recover.

        • I think his body language is probably imparting much of the squeezing. He looks like he isn’t pitching well. But yea, there were some critical pitches where the ball was half over the plate that weren’t called.

      • He wasn’t perfect, but he went 6 innings and yielded one earned run. I like the fact that he was able to battle, once again, at Yankee stadium against a pretty good team. Maybe I’m polishing a turd, but I’d like to hold out hope that yesterday’s starters indicate that things may not be as bleak as they seem.

      • For Romero, 6 innings is a good outing.

  3. Ichiro troll face
