Back by popular-ish demand, here’s your spot to talk about tonight’s playoff action, if for some pointless reason you’d rather discuss it here than in the actually-related post, which I’ve written, previewing tonight’s game, over at Getting Blanked.
Enjoy!
4:00 PM ET:
San Francisco Giants (Cain, M.) @ St. Louis Cardinals (Lohse, K.)
TV: FOX/Sportsnet One – Series tied 1-1
8:00 PM ET:
New York Yankees (Sabathia, C.) @ Detroit Tigers (Scherzer, M.)
TV: TBS/Sportsnet – Tigers lead 3-0

maybe I am wrong, but it seems that Parkes previewed tonight’s NLCS game and not Stoeten, now he is not even writing these just regurgitation.
It’s a long story…. Stoeten is humoring his loyal readers so that we can continue posting comments on this site rather than at Getting Blanked.
Man…Rosenthal is quite a force out of the pen.
WTF where the hell is everyone…theis is the MLB plauoffs, letsw get this party started
Bitch bitch bitch.
Jeez birddawg.
Learn how to type too.
Cranky old fart.
That’s my job.
Trade Joey Bats
That’ll get some attention!
This St.Louis – Detroit rematch of doom seems to be inevitably moving forward. Selig will be working the phones to the umps- hey, make sure you’re calling them fair, no bad calls against the Yanks, right?
I do wonder how low the ratings could be if the World Series ends up a sweep. At this point, I think the best outcome we can hope for is a Detroit win so that the inhabitants can celebrate by using the cleansing power of flame on their city.
Like a Phoenix rising from the ashes.
So…. who heard PTS today? Leading off the 4 PM hour Brunt was on speaking about Beeston and his contract, and his relationship with Rogers. The discussion was quite interesting, and implied a bit of a rocky relationship with Keith Pelley and Rogers, though they admitted they weren’t entirely sure about it.

4PM hour today, right off the top.
Very interesting. Thanks for pointing it out.
I don’t think we’ve heard this speculation anywhere before.
Maybe the reason why Beeston has seemed off message and confusing in the last few years, is that Beest is having trouble sorting that shit out with Rogers.
Well, if Bautista brought back two pitchers that combined provide around 10 WAR, you should probably jump at it because it will take a lot more to get it otherwise.
Thanks, Alli’ssauce.
I had a function tonight so did the Cards win?
3-1 cards rain delay 7th inning
thanks muchly
you are welcome hugely
I loathe rain delays, A-Rod and the neighbours ugly dog.
Anyone read Drew’s article about Jack Morris? Thoughts?
I read it. It was an interesting perspective.
Interesting, indeed. I always worry when someone tells me the meal I just cooked was “interesting”.
His conclusions are based upon what he can derive from fangraphs without considering other factors that affected those stats.
That being said, both sides have legitimate points and you could debate it for days.
People like Morris,Ryan and Maddux have a resume that you can’t ignore.
You also can’t ignore science either.
Both opinions have validity.
IMHO
I have doubts about the Verducci effect and I lean heavily to the side of working the pitchers harder to make them more durable.Just from what I’ve seen with pitcher training.
I also believe in long toss training too.
I’m with you Radar. Nolan Ryan is a huge advocate too.
I’ve posted the link before,so I’ll apologize in advance.
Sorta what’s old is new again.

Fuck Radar, you to me posting over there now.
LOL
Crap, postponed
We’ll always have tommorow and the memories of yesterday.
Are we still talkin about baseball?
4:00 start tomorrow, I’ll miss half the game
1st half,2nd half or the middle half?
I get the 4:30 (or should I say 16:30) train home. Maybe I should get off in Pickering instead.
I’m too disheartened by the triumph of science over religion.
There are so many songs in me that won’t be sung
I feel the bitter taste of tears upon my tongue
The time has come for me to pay for yesterday when I was young.
I’ll sing one.Not directed at anyone I just like the lyrics.
Well it’s 40 below and I don’t give a fuck
Got a heater in my truck and I’m off to the rodeo
And it’s allemande left and allemande right
Come on ya fuckin’ dummy get your right step right
Get off the stage ya god damn fool,y’know (you know)
piss me off, fuckin’ jerk, get on my nerves
Well here comes Johnny with his pecker in his hand
He’s a one ball man and he’s off to the rodeo
geeze RADAR. That’s the kind of music you listen to?
First recorded by ‘Showdown’, but written by Edmonton’s own Gaye Delorme, guitarist extraordinaire. RIP big guy.
THE RODEO SONG!!! I HAFTA GO OUT AND HAVE 10 BEERS!!!
+ BILLIONS AND BILLIONS!!!
Radar, you brought the geezers out of the woodwork.
You sure that wasn’t directed at anyone? You know I had to stop going to watch football games cuasse I just knew they were talkin about me in the huddle.
Jeez SP and Carl Sagan, you guys are good, very good
You’re breakin’ my heart
You’re tearin’ it apart
So fuck you
All I want to do
Is have a good time
Now I’m blue
You wanna boogaloo
Run down to Tramps
Have a dance or two–ooh!
You’re breaking my heart
You’re tearin’ it apart
But fuck you
Harry’s one of my main guys, Radar.
I’d rather be dead, I’d rather be dead
I’d rather be dead than wet my bed
I’d rather be dead, I’d rather be dead
I said, “Dead than wet my bed.”
Oh, I’d rather be gone than carry on
I’d rather go away than feel this way
Oh, I’d rather be there, where you haven’t got a care
And you’re better off dead, though it doesn’t seem fair.
Impressive SP
I bow to you sir.
Ok read the Morris article, Drew is reflect the same denceness that he accusses Morris of. Jack Morris wanted to deep in games always, it was his major beef with Steib too. Morris never talked about longevity, just staying deep into the game.
Maybe Morris is old school, and I like that. Yes Drew old school pitchers flammed out from over-pitching, but maybe not any more so the the baby-caudeled youngsters today….you know the ones that amass over 125 innings over 25 starts. The modern day professional pitcher does not have the sterner stuff of his predecessors, so look for an end to the 20 game winner, the 200 inning a year man, the brush back pitch, and guys that had the intestinal fortitude to pitch on 3 days rest.
Hoorah!
I remember listening to the inaugrial year of the BJ’s – Tom Cheek and his colour man Early Wynn. Now there was a pitcher, but the fucking guy was horrible to listen to when calling the game.
I liked Early Wynn. He sounded like he was half in the bag, but some of his stories were great. It took me a while to warm up to Jerry because I missed Early.
baseball is back
We don’t care DD. It’s 70′s night on DJF.
See the nice thing about 70′s night is that weather you talk about the decade that was, or the age of the poster, you get to the same spot
Well you’re in the ballpark, birddawg, but you’ve got a finger or two stuck on the scales. (Or is that the hands of time?)
Just went to thE tigers game. Fuck this motehrfucking shit. It hasnt rained barely at all in the last three hours. I have NEVER seen a fucking baseball game postponed with not a single fucking drop of rain falling before the call.
It was the only way MLB could ensure that the Skanks lived to fight another day.
ouch
I’d be pissed too.
Although from my experience, the Windsor/Detroit weather can change in a moment’s notice.
My sympathy’s.
