Calling 162 games every year is not an easy thing to do. That’s 500 hours (give or take) of talking non-stop about the same topic. While you get to cover some great games, you also have to cover the really shitty games. I gotta give credit to Buck – in my opinion, he does a good job. Sure, the BOWTEESTAH’s get annoying after a while, but such is the case when listening to someone talk for a long time.

I teamed up with Vince from to find some of the best/worst of Buck. If you don’t know about the site, it’s a catalog of all of Buck’s fuck-ups. He gave me a ton of material to work with so shoutout to him. So here you go, the Buck Martinez soundboard:

  1. Dear Lord… This is gold.

  2. in tears at my desk

  3. I do like the swing and a drive call, its not bad

  4. Amazing. Special request for “KYelly Jaaaahnson”

  5. Brilliant, even with the egregious oversight that is the exclusion of Buck’s awkward pronunciation of “Negro Leagues”.

  6. life complete

    ‘Gold, DJF, GOLD!’

  7. 6-5 tie. Abraham Cibia, and Kawasaklee are my favourites. Oh and of course: Gets fisted.

  8. also, john rauch would have been spectacular in this

    ‘john rauwwwch’

  9. No “swingin’ a hot bat!”???

  10. This is the best thing ever. Of today.

  11. It’s such a shame. Buck is a colour guy, he did a fine job at that with ESPN.

He just doesn’t have the chops or stamina for play by play.

Chris Cuthbert (play by play )and the Wonder Dog (colour), or bust.

  12. Couple of cuties followed by gets fisted…

  13. Also gotta throw out a request for “little looper” which gets said 4-8 times per game and always sounds creepy and sexual (though maybe it’s me. It’s me, isn’t it?).

  14. Buck needs a pair of pom poms

  15. 71st run of the game. Perfection.

  16. need a few of these as my text ringtones

    Abraham Cibia is glorious

  17. I love it when he tries to say asktheexperts.

    Go Buck!

  18. “Gets fisted” hahaahhahaahha

Can you please add a “high and deep”

  19. fantastic!! hahaha………

  20. I want one with Tabby’s greatest hits.
Yes, I’m greedy + yes, I’m dying of laughter over here.

  21. Currently laughing my ass off all over the place.

  22. If I had a nickel for every time someone said to me “Gets Fisted”…

  23. This is TRFFC

  24. Where’s the “High and Deep”

  25. I need so much more of this.

  26. Job well done. I also would’ve liked to hear a “pops it up”.

  27. “Any rebroadcast, retransmission, or account of this game, without the express written consent of Major League Baseball, is prohibited.”

  28. Tabler’s ‘can you imagines’ are the best

  29. In V 2.0 PLEASE have a Buck Laugh

  30. nicely done!!

run this through a compressor and clean it up a little and get it onto a Mobile App!!!

  31. I like this, but it really really really could use a classic wheezy Buck laugh.

  32. Buck competes with Dr. Steve Brule for adding unnecessary consonants to words.

  33. Id like to hear “Little Looper” Buck uses that for any ball hit in the air; whether its on the infield or to the warning track. Also his call last night was pretty good on a Rasmus foul ball “Colby Rasmus gets in to one!!!! high and deep!!!! this ballll iiiiiiis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!……foul…..foul ball…” womp womp. It was a good 20 feet foul, and about 30 feet short of the fence. I love Buck.

    • Ha ha – I was staring at the TV thinking, “Buck, what the hell are you talking about.” Best one of the season so far!!

    • I think he even said “If it’s fair it’s gone!!!” then it came up well short and obviously foul. lol

  34. We need Tabler now! It can be 30 different sound clips about “hands”.

  35. And you guys thought the season was wasted!

  36. You just made the entire season. Win or lose, this is a personal victory and I thank you for that.

  37. man that guy spent a lot of time pointing out Buck’s blunders

  38. The old 6-5 tie. Fun stuff

  39. Thank you. Amazing!

  40. Heads up for v2: Colby RRRRRRRASMUS

    Great job otherwise!!!

  41. Sausage and friiiieeeed onions.

  42. OH MYY
    What a double play
    he bubbles it
    get used to it folks
    off the wall

  44. Where’s ‘High and Deeeep” ??? Otherwise banner work!

  45. Haha. Thank you. This is awesome.

  46. Every time Buck says “retired” (which is a lot) I hear “retarded.”

“Pedroia throws to first, and Lind is retarded.”
“Lawrie tries to go for the double and is retarded.”
“Rasmus chases a pitch up in the zone and is retarded.”

  47. V2.0 — please add the awesome wheezing he does when he laughs. And of course you could have a whole string of Tabler: “He’s got such soft hands…so soft…”

  48. Oh my god this is the best.

  49. Buck just said “conswinues”

  50. Loosening up! (every shot of a reliever in a bullpen)

  51. Missed this post in the afternoon. Now this cheers me up after a shit game. Oh man.

  52. How about when he awkwardly pondered how Kawasaki and Ichiro look exactly the same to him?

  53. Buck is fucking awesome

  54. I’d like to get Buck’s “2 Balls and a stri” call, where the -ke part of strike is inexplicably left out.

  55. Also, David OR-tiz and Junel Escobar.

  56. Sound board is half decent. The last thing he says in the bottom right corner square should be “this. SEEZIN.”

  57. Also need a clip of him telling us how many airs the bluejays defense has committed

  58. Tears, abdominal muscle tweaks, over the top lol-age. Thanks for this.

    “Sausage and fraaa’d ON-ions”.

  59. I remember that day when he botched the homerun call, I was watching that game and immediately texted my buddy who texted me back going “Yo Bucky is at it again eh”

  60. A request for his weird throaty Ennnnncarnashone home run calls and for his weird throaty Rrrasmus calls. Anytime he gets real throaty I lose it.

This is gold and I love it.

  61. Couple more requests:
-anyone with the last name johnson (aka JYANNSAN!)
    -the word ‘season’ (SEEEEEEEEESON)
-and…my favourite the ‘first pitch strike!” (where strike is like 3 octaves higher than the rest of the sentence).

Keep up the good work….the bon-eee-fas-eee-oh is killing me!

  62. It’s a year too late, but Buck’s best was the night Yan Gomes gave the Blue Jays their first Brazilian.

  63. Hey amiga!!! I like the dress but… I think the top is SO YOU!! So colorful and free flowing- that’s my choice for you. You’ll generate a splash in either. I really like the Limited but haven’t shopped there inside of a while- thanks for your reminder. Hugs!!

  64. sometimes he’ll say “bottom of the..” and his voice suddenly dips down way low for the “of the” part. I wish to have access to that

  65. Any second version of this NEEDS a clip from April 2nd. Buck was reading a promo for the CTV show Hannibal, and he said “Let the mind games begin!” in the creepiest voice imaginable.

Please please please add this, I’ll even look it up on to find where it happened, it was hilarious.

  77. I love this, soooo much. Can’t wait for version 2.0.

  78. I think I’m going to get me some Sausage and Friiiiieeeed Onions….

  79. Watching MLB.TV the last couple seasons, I have to say though that Buck Martinez is my favorite announcer. Him and Pat call a great game. They’re colorful, descriptive, you actually learn something, and they’re honestly funny.

I mean, so many announcers on the other teams are just so dry and flat. Humorless. Or, it’s humor that isn’t really funny but they think it is.

Buck’s just got that quality that when a HR is hit, his calling of it raises your level of excitement.

  80. Very descriptive article, I liked that a lot. Could there be part 2?

  81. I still come back to this after a bad day…and a good day.

  89. This weblog is containing a good material of funny YouTube video tutorials, I liked it a lot.

  90. He had a bad one while talking about Lind the other night at Chicago. Said Lind hit x amount of doubles and had 132 homers in in his silver slugger year

  91. Pure gold, Swing And A Drive is classic buck.

  92. Question:
Buck calls him WONG\ His sweater spells it WANG
am I missing something in the translation ??
    Where is Pat Tabler?

    • You’re missing something. That’s actually how it’s pronounced. Takes some of the fun out of the Dickey-Wang-Johnson part of the rotation though.

  93. Together with everything that appears to be developing within this specific subject material, all your points of view are fairly refreshing. Nevertheless, I am sorry, but I can not give credence to your whole strategy, all be it refreshing none the less. It seems to me that your comments are not totally rationalized and in simple fact you are generally your self not really completely certain of your assertion. In any event I did enjoy reading through it.

  94. Hi there everybody, here every person is sharing these kinds of familiarity, therefore it’s nice to read this blog, and I used to go to see this website every day.

  95. Buck. I know u think the b jays never make a mistake, but Kawasaki came around. Whether it was a foul or not. His bat was way in front of the plate. So what if it hit him in the foot. He was coming around on a bunt and didn’t even try to get out of the way.
Get real man. There are actually 2 team’s out there and the jays actually do screw up. You’re worse than Fergie Oliver and he was brutal. U should actually try to show u appreciate both teams in a game. Not just your loser jays

  97. I’ve noticed that credit restoration activity need to be conducted with techniques. If not, you could discover yourself endangering your rank. In order to realize your aspirations in fixing your credit rating you have to confirm that from this moment in time you pay all of your respective monthly dues promptly in advance of their planned date. It is significant on the grounds that by not accomplishing that, all other steps that you’ll decide to try to improve your credit positioning will not be effective. Thanks for expressing your ideas.

  98. Can I simply say what a relief to discover somebody who actually knows what they’re talking about on the net. You actually know how to bring a problem to light and make it important. More and more people must look at this and understand this side of your story. It’s surprising you are not more popular because you certainly have the gift.
