Toronto Blue Jays v Tampa Bay Rays

Brandon Morrow, Chad Jenkins takes the mound today for the Blue Jays, the ninth starter the team has already used so far this season. Jenkins, who has only made one start for Double-A New Hampshire since being activated from the disabled list, will be facing Ryan Dempster, who defeated the Jays in Toronto last week with six solid innings.

Same lineup today for the Jays, something we may have to get used to.

The Jays, along with every other club in majors will wear pink necklaces and wrist bands for Mother’s Day today.

Scuttlebutt:

John Lott reviews yesterday’s win, a game in which Mark Buehrle finally shined.

Shi Davidi tweets the results of Ricky Romero’s first start for the Buffalo Bisons, which didn’t happen to go very well.

Richard Griffin tweets that pitcher Edgar Gonzalez has elected to become a free agent. A quick update on Gonzalez, he signed with the Houston Astros.

Barry Davis tweets the latest update on Brandon Morrow, who was of course, scratched from today’s start.

  1. Ps i would like to add my puzzlement that you wouldnt call up a actual 2nd baseman to play 2nd. Whos hitting 400. And for those that say it is aaa who cares our current second baseman is hitting sub 200 with poor defence

    • Shhhhh! You’re harshing my mellow. Why not save your ammo for Wilner post game.

    • Of all the games to pick on him, this was the one you were concerned with?

      • Yes exactly the one game he actually hits is what im basing this on now he hitting 400 right.. Boneface isnt a starter he is bench player a good bench player but a bench player

        • Even a blind squirrel finds nuts once in a while. A broken clock is correct twice a day

        • No ya nipple. I agree that he’s been bad for most of the year. You could have picked about 20 games to use this rant. Just doesn’t really fit when the Jays thrash our rivals and Boni gets 3 hits.

          • Agree bad timing as i said just wondering why they dont give jim a shot no rant no dissing boneface. I beleive jays just have two many bench players playing and before season started aa said he was still looking for a 2 nd baseman ill just stop posting and leave this to you and your friends. It is too bad no one is allowed to express a opinion without being tiresome

            • In your first post, after some dissing you ended with “having said this I would just like to enjoy a series win go jays go.”

              No one disagreed with you.
              No one attacked you.

If only you had left well enough alone.
              But no…….

    • I thought the lineup was solid (all things considered) today. Worked out more than fine…

  2. More please!

  3. POUR IT ON

  4. The payoff isn’t good enough to be possibly gunned down there at third like that, Bautista. There are no outs yet in the inning.

    • Baserunning is one part of Bautista’s game that is sub-par, or at least he suffers a ton of brain farts on the bases, particularly lately.

  5. Beauty of an RBI JPA!

  6. That pink swagger sleeve isn’t a look that Kittenface should go forward with.
Wow wow wow wow yea yea

  7. JP can’t even buy himself an RBI in a laugher with runners on corners and none out. Trade him to some dipshitty club who likes his power.

  8. I love the effort even though they are up 8.
    Nice one Bats

  9. Buck’s in his cups again.

    • I haven’t had the pleasure, I get the visitors feed in Florida.

Thankfully today it’s TBS instead of those NESN homers.

  10. By the way, where the FUCK did ‘Kittenface’ come from

  11. Woo!

  12. good game

  13. a large number of boston fans stayed to the end … the whiners on here threaten to leave before anything happens in case it might … which ones are stupid? which ones enjoyed their day?

great week in jay land … these two made up for some of the knots in our shoulders from earlier … let’s turn some giants into midgets and get tuned up for the yankees

  14. 7.5 games back of Boston.

  15. Hope someone’s checking on ol’ Petey Abraham. He hasn’t tweeted (ahem…trolled) in a few hours. This weekend’s losses have probably pretty rough on the guy.

  16. I just want to let you guys know that I just now finally recovered from my stroll around the bases today. With all the sitting down lately I’ve put on 30 pounds, my feathers are all matted, and I’ve recently been diagnosed with type-2 diabetes. I have just now caught my breath and am doing well. A trip to the 15-day DL is unlikely at this point.

    • Time for some tough love.

No more crackers, no more sunflower seeds.
You’re going to do irreparable harm to EE’s back and inner core.
      Thank god he’s not Kittenface.

      • Kittenface is in better shape this year. He’s been getting in shape by chasing balls of yarn, scratchibg up the furniture in the clubhouse, and coughing up hair balls.

Edwin needs to hit more home runs for my benefit. Pretty soon he’ll be rolling me around the bases.

        • @edwin’s Parrot

What are the odds that AA resigns Lind for 1 year 2014. ?

2 million buyout or let Kitty be a DH for 7 million.

Can AA get a quality DH for 2014 including 2 million buyout to Lind?

Any fre agent DH’s for 2014?

Justin Morneau? He can still catch right?

  17. Dammit we blow out he Sox and my family took me out for Mothers Day. Which was lovely of course but I forgot to record the game. Taking a series away from Boston at Fenway in a laugher. I wish I’d seen that!

  18. The bandwagon is back on and taking passengers again folks. Until the next time the Jays lose, that is.

  19. I dont know if Stoeten or anyone else has mentioned it but I just read that Osuna is out for prolly a year with a torn UCL…anyone else got this story???

  20. OK team seems to be coming together somewhat, even with all the injuries. They can get back to 400 this week.
There is even talk of getting to 500 by end of June. 500 by July 1 and you make a run from there. There is still hope.
Would be nice to finally see a dominating knuckleball game. Off day tomorrow is good to heal some injuries even though its only May.

  21. Nice performance by both subs this weekend. Ortiz kept his team right in the game and Jenkins did extremely well. I thought he’d dominate first time through the line-up and then fall apart as they got used to him. But he kept it up. The Sox didn’t play Ortiz yesterday and that helped us out a lot as well.

    • Agreed on ROrtiz and Jenkins.

Speaking of subs, it will be interesting to see what the decisions are for Stroman, McGowan, Drabek and Hutchison in the coming months.

      • A lot of those guys will need rehab starts and such. They’ll get plenty of time in lower levels to get back to fighting strength unless there’s injuries on the big team. If any of them does extremely well, then it opens up possibilities for trades, especially if we are in the run late in the season.

        • I’d like to see a healthy Hutch possible battle for a rotation spot next year. I really liked what I saw from him right before he went down last year. I’m hopeful here.

I don’t know too much about Stroman other than people harping on his size holding him back from being a starter. I guess we’ll see.

Drabek and McGowan? I’m at the “who gives a damn?” point with these two. McGowan for obvious reasons. Drabek has now had two TJS and he was pure shit when healthy anyways. I’d bet money against him ever starting another game for the Jays.

          • I think Hutch and Drabek will be ready/healthy in August, I imagine they are starter insurance/long relief. Stroman could join the bullpen earlier in the summer.

Who do they supplant? Lincoln? Call Me Esmil?

            Will Santos ever be healthy?
