For those of you who have yet to see it, via the Toronto Star (and probably elsewhere– what am I, Google?), we have a clip of Jays shortstop Munenori Kawasaki singing a (partial) version of O Canada. Because… uh… pageviews.

Hey, like, did you know he was Japanese?

Check out the video after the jump…

Here’s the YouTube description, for you YouTube completists out there:

Video I took of Kawasaki signing autographs and chatting with fans at the game on June 9th, 2013. Kawasaki is a fan favourite and this is the reason! No copyright infringement intended.

  1. O~~~Can~~~nada~~~~NA NA NA NA NA NA~~~~~~~~~~~

  2. Without any exaggeration, I love this guy.

If there is any kind of silver lining to find in Reyes’ injury this spring, it is that we were introduced to this very lovable character.

Kawasaki will never be booed at Rogers Centre in the future, bet the house on that.

  3. After watching that Youtube suggested this gem:

Kawasaki going through his book of cliches for MLB Network. Gold.

  4. If Kawasaki gets cut or traded we should fire AA.

  5. I have been a diehard Jays fan for almost 3 decades.
If Kawasaki gets sent to AAA when Reyes comes back… I am no longer a fan of this team.

  6. If Kawasaki could get his OPS+ up to, oh, I don’t know, maybe 85?? I could root for him.

  7. Hey, remember when we were excited about baseball?

  8. Hey, I love the guy. But I’d love a winning team more.
If they could somehow magically get rid of Boney or Itzy – I’d be allright with him being our backup infielder.

  9. Have you? Or just their MLB numbers?
    Yeah, that’s what I thought.
    Japan, dummy.

  10. Can we get him started on Delabar’s arm strengthening program asap and convert him to a starter?

  11. No, I want a team of the best 25. Kawasaki is better than both Maicer and Emilio.
    He really is.

  12. Plus, how magical would it be if someone claimed Maicer on waivers?

  13. Have you looked at their whole career, or just the last 40 games?

  14. Bonfifacio’s career numbers are essentially comparable to Yuniesky Betancourt in terms of wrc+ and defensive abilities. Not really sure what it is people are seeing there.
