Baltimore Orioles v Tampa Bay Rays

Holy shit, the Orioles’ record is really good.

Welp. Let’s see if this works!

Let the good times roll and all that, know what I mean?

In the minors, Aaron Sanchez is healthy and back on the hill for the Dunedin Blue Jays tonight, according to a tweet from the club.

According to Buck Showalter, the Orioles will start either Freddy Garcia or Zach Britton in Sunday’s finale, according to a tweet from Chris Toman. Free money!

Gregor Chisholm tweets that the Jays, should they win tonight, will be at .500 for the first time since July 30th, 2012, when they were 51-51.

  1. Win or lose, it’s been a great game.

Still fucking pissed off at Dickey’s shitiness though.

  2. Hey did Melky get that hit after Kawasaki in the 7th or was it Rajai? I was only half paying attention. Gameday says Rajai came in to hit but I could have sworn it was to pinch run…

    • Pinch run. Stole a base, too.

      • Yeah I was pretty sure. That’s really strange that has him pinch hitting (and getting the hit). He’s my beat the streak choice so I’m somewhat invested in it lol

  3. Two nice catches by Bonifiasco? We gotta win now!

  4. Bonifantastico says ‘no problem.’

    Let’s see how he hits.

  5. Y’all know who the cleanup hitter in the bottom of the ninth is, right?

  6. Between Micer, Bonifantastico, and a presumed pinch hit appearance from our steady leader there is no way we don’t end this inning with a walk off bomb.

  7. Mune Unit Zappa?

  8. Janssen didn’t throw many pitches. Do we see him for the 10th?

  9. Okay, if one of Izturis, Thole or Bonerfacio can get on base then Kawasaki gets another at bat. Home run almost assured

  10. The BABIP gods are now smiling on Izturis!

  11. Nice bunt, Thole.

  12. Muni’s gonna do it!

  13. Still don’t like giving up an out, curious to see Zube’s win expectancy chart tomorrow to see which way the graph goes.

  14. JP needed a full swing to accomplish the same end.

  15. I could handle Thole as the no. 1 catcher.

  16. If Muni somehow gets the walk-off hit, Toronto will be in ruins tonight. It’s going to be awesome.

  18. Nice narrative coming. DeRosa pinch hitter gets a walk. Now we get Kawasaki!!

  19. Oh my God, this is like a movie.. I hope it ends like one.

  20. IBB-ing DeRosa. That’s kinda hilarious.

  21. lmao first pitch homerun cut. Slow it down there Muni

  24. Uhoh, second pitch too. Remember who you are buddy

  25. No DP…NO DP…NO DP

  26. If Sake works a walk, that would be awesome!

  27. He’s looking to go the other way…

  28. 7 pitch at bat for Kawasaki so far!

  29. Edwin is having a blast!!

  30. Fielder’s choice for Kawi on an 8 pitch at bat. Not bad for a scrubby!

  31. Alright, that .. didn’t suck! I’m buying a Jersey.

  32. Nice move on the basebaths by DeRoaster

  33. Jesus, I like DeRosa’s decentness.

  34. Is Strop still walking a bunch of guys?

  35. Rajai Davis is up versus Strop.

  36. That was awesome regardless. Hope davis can get a walk so bautista can get some revenge.

  37. Walk-off walk?

  38. Man, Kawasaki gets the entire place chanting his name, too much pressure, he looked uncomfortable out there on the first 2 pitches, then settled down for an ok at bat.

But gotta love it, great environment there.

  39. we gotta win it now with Strop coming in. he is the worst they have

  40. Rajai for the win.

  41. Winning run on a wild pitch on a low and away breaking ball that Rajai always swings on?

  42. Boom!!!!!!!!!

  43. AWESOME!!! number 9, baby!

  44. Sublime!

  45. Holee Fawk!!!

  47. what a win……

  48. 50000000000000000000

  49. #Lovethisteam. I think those marketing people at the Jays were onto something.

  51. RAJAI

  52. Ha….pull your goddamned cap down RIGHT, and look like a fucking ballplayer!

  53. Fucking right!!! 9 in a row!!

  54. Weird how the “Walk off” ritual in MLB has turned from stomping a guy until he is on the DL to ripping his clothes off. I’m into it.

  55. That was sweet!!! Wish I had been there!!

  56. I missed it! Damn Bladder

  57. Something a little special might be happening here.

  58. That was fun.

  59. Am I dreaming?

  60. .500

  61. whooooooooooooooo

  62. is this real?

  63. Fucking .500 TWO WEEKS before the All-Star Break!!!!

We’re gonna need a bigger boat!

  64. I love you guys and gals.

  65. I fucking love Davis. He has a real flair for the dramatic. Walk-offs, ridiculous catches, laser throws to the plate.

  66. I’m so fucking excited right now.

    500 Baby

  67. Well it’s about damn time.

  68. More pitchers with their hats tipped to the side, SVP. Guaranteed win every single time for Toronto.

  69. The majesty of the MahaRajai

  70. Is this .500 since the team was 0-0?

  71. The Jays are now gaining

    street cred !

Take that bitch broadcasters from Cleveland and Chicago!

  72. When was the last time you’ve been this pumped for a win?

  73. Rajai looks like he gets his eyebrows done.

  74. I stuck around to watch this and I’m late for my tourney game.
Have a great night assholes. I’m getting so drunk after my game that I may see Gary Busey again.

    Until tomorrow.

  75. If only Dickey could limit the walks/runs. His ERA and FIP are now back over 5 on the season. :(

    • He has only pitched well so far against NL clubs. The AL East is a beast.

      • He needs to make the same kind of adjustment that Buerle made. Its pretty hard to hit one out in Flushing. The Dome is a launching pad.

      • If he is injured, it’s time to miss 2 starts. A healthy Dickey
could pay dividends. He’s a huge innings eater if he can
        pitch well.

        • Who takes his spot?

          • It’s probably what they’ve been saying all season long.. I dunno but in order to get the best of RA DIckey I’d bring up Jenkins. Hell he cant be worse. Also (and I admit I havent been paying attention to this but) when is Happ and/or Morrow due back?

  76. Playoffs!!

  78. fuck yeah!

  79. 5 fucking Hundred!

  80. Oh man. Best win of the season so far. What a great feeling.

  81. The fans are going to riot when the Munibomber gets sent down.

Although I could see Melky going on the DL for a short stint to get some rest for those bum legs instead. Saves the team from a seriously difficult decision.

    • So you turn to a Bonifiasco / Davis platoon in LF and use Sake as your 2B? Hmmmm

      • Yeah I think it’s manageable. Gibbons seems to understand how to work a platoon in LF if history is any indicator. Nothing was sweeter than taking Reed Johnson and Frank Catalanotto and turning them into a two headed monster.

        • If you put Dickey on the DL for 15 days, who takes the spot?

        • I think that would work well, especially since Reyes can slot into the leadoff spot and we don’t need to mess with the lineup at all. Plus Melky really needs to get some semblance of power back, even just double power.

      • @priapastic.

I think Melky could go on the DL to get a rest. i assume they could use the all star break as part of the dl stint.

Kawasaki is hilarious. his ab in the 9th helped tire out the pitcher.

        • The pitcher that didn’t face Davis and was going to be removed from the game after the Kawasaki at-bat regardless of what happened?

  82. Who was that guy who was saying we’re coming for you Joe Maddon?
Cause, if things hold up the Jays are one back of the Rays after tonight.
    We’re fucking coming for you Joe…and Joe…and Buck…and Fuckface.

  83. I also recall during his first week I said he was a replacement level player (Kawasaki). I was wrong. Those who foolishly believed in him have been surprisingly correct.

  84. Hi 5 to Stoeten, the only writer I have read who stuck with the Jays as being winners this year, most at one time or another gave up on them!

  85. I can hear Hammel’s conspiracy theories already. Why is it so hard for people to understand that, if you throw the same 2-strike pitch to two batters in a row, the third guy’s going to pick up on it? That’s what good hitters do.

    Suck it Hammel

  86. Can’t keep De Rosa or Boni over Kawasaki. And theyre not gonna touch that bullpen right now — it’s gonna have to be a position player.

  87. The entire AL .500 or above, toughest division in baseball is right.

  88. Other than the fact that Boney can play more than one position and is blazingly fast – I’d get rid of him rather than Kawasaki.
Fine, MK is a bit more one-dimensional (at this point)…but, fuck me gently – when’s the last time you saw Boney do ANYTHING with the bat? I can’t remember an RBI, let alone a base hit….and for homers, fageddaboudit.

    • As a hitter, kawa>>>>>>>>>>>> boni. Its not even close. They both have equal pop but kawa is way more skilled at battling pitchers.

  89. GREAT Fucking win despite dickeys shitiness. AA, Im begging you dfa boni and let kawasaki play 2nd against righties. PLEEEEAASSSSEEE! Anyways, what a fucking huge hit by davis. I shit on the guy a lot (He is generally awful against righties) but gotta give credit where its due.

  90. Like Santa Claus making his rounds, Gary Busey just swung by. Said he’s on his way to meet up with his buddy Smasher. It’s gonna be a good night. Tomorrow makes it 10 straight.

    Go Jays!

  91. “Bonifacio’s speed from home to third is a real help to this team”

  92. Show your damn face Jesuscristo

    • He’s a true blue fan who apparently only celebrates losses.

It’s a niche type of fandom, to say the least.

  93. Any word of Muni being tied to Biogenesis?

  94. “Casey Janssen, Brett Cecil and Co., have posted a collective ERA of 0.65 (four runs in 55.2 innings) in June, lower than that of any other bullpen over a single month dating back to 1921″ sick!

  95. The only complaint I will make and i mean ONLY complaint is to the fans who did not know enough to fuck with Markakis on that foul ball in the stands. IT WAS IN THE STANDS, IT IS YOUR BALL – THE OTHER TEAM IS TRYING TO TAKE A PRECIOUS OUT. How many times do we have to go over the first row obligation: you get good seats, you step up your game. On Jays players trying to catch fouls near the stands, you move yourself back and you take the mofos on your right and left with you (fuck your compulsion to grab for a gameday ball). On opposition players trying to catch fouls, you form a goal-line stand at the vertical plane of the low wall and HOLD THAT LINE.

Please Jays brass and Rogers Centre management, every game have someone enlighten the first row on the rules with some obvious humour that makes everyone realize what role they are to play in aiding the home team.

    • the foul catch did advance the runner though, so perhaps those fans were thinking ahead…just saying

    • Making a big show out of those instructions would actually be a great way to build some positive atmosphere.

    • Too fucking true, dm, but it seems to go against our (Canadian) nature.

      Maybe we can be taught.

  96. Jays go for 10 in a row in the afternoon then heading to Buffalo to watch the Bisons and Reyes tomorrow evening, and then copious amounts of beer and wings at the Pearl Street Brewery. Sounds like a lovely Saturday if I do say so myself.
