Jose Reyes

Yeah, yeah, we could get all doom-y and gloomy over here about yesterday’s abundant frustrations and the perhaps-unnecessary demotion of Munenori Kawasaki, but… holy shit, Jose Reyes is back!

Brendan Kennedy tweets that John Gibbons moved Melky Cabrera down in today’s order, keeping Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion in the two- and three-spots, because he likes getting Edwin up in the first inning. GibbyTheBest.

Kennedy also is the first to tweet Gibbers’ comments about taking the unusual step of informing the clubhouse as a group about last night’s demotion of Munenori Kawasaki, as the manager explained, “There was something different about this one.” In a later tweet, Gibby says, “Thank God the guy who’s replacing him is a superstar.”

  1. Cannot say I expected a 2-hit shutout coming from RA after his recent performances – including retiring the first 13 -against a decent offensive team like the Rays.

    That is pretty sweet.

  2. Dickey – 93 pitches (25 balls), 13 total pitches for innings 8 & 9, 2 hits, 1 walk
    Game time – 2 hours, 10 minutes

    • Quick came and a win. Plenty o time to hit the patio for the rest of the afternoon.

  3. My audio on my cable was out for the past 30 minutes so I hope I didn’t miss any gems from Buck + Tabby.

Also – quickest game ever. Not impressed. Now I have so much time to kill + no audio on my TV!

    • During Lind’s HR, Buck said “Jesmond Dennings” haha

Also Tabler was talking about big strong legs today, switching it up from his usual “hands” obsession!

      • Dammit. Learning the importance of big, schtrooong legs is vital! As it happens I accidentally pressed the wrong button on my remote that killed sound!

  4. And I did not miss J.P striking out 3 times.

  5. Dickey Dickey Dickey, can’t you see? Sometime’s your moves just hypnotize me….

  6. Good thing we kept that 8 man bullpen intact!!

But seriously, utter domination from Dickey today. That was one of the most casual shutouts I’ve ever seen, I think there was 1, maybe 2 hard hit balls all day.

  7. Its over already?!? What the hell??!?! Noon start is 10am out here. Looked like a good win though.

  8. When I played there were some seasons we played most of our games in this dome. Probably close to half our games some season. The palm trees outside are new though.

  9. Solid win. Love it.

  10. I was just logging in to find out how the game was going and, uh, it’s over? We won? Dickey threw a CGSO? The hell you say….

  11. HUGE game by Dickey. what a gem!!! CG SO!

lucky we have an 8 man bullpen :)

  12. Busy day at work, so I missed he game. All I have to say is #unsweepable

  13. Caught the last 3 innings, Dickey looked awesome. shame i miss these types of games

  14. Dammit…. I missed a good game. Sounds like Dickey and Thole found some of that Cy Young magic. Hope this is the beginning of a trend.

Does any one know where I can watch a replay of the game or do I have to wait for Jays in 30.

  15. It feels good to have Reyes back. Can’t wait until Lawrie is back and pushes another shit hitter out the lineup. That’s assuming that Lawrie gets his shit together, of course.

  16. That is what a staff ace is all about, coming back to lead the team after a couple tough losses. Hope this is another start of a 11 win streak.

  17. So, what do you guys think is the absolute minimum you’d like to see from the Jays over the next 8 games (4 Boston, 4 Detroit)?

For me, I’d like to see the Jays take 3 against the Massholes, and split with the Tigers, and go 5-3.

    • 6-2 is the minimum. Sweep Boston in a humiliating fashion and split with Detroit. Yes, I know how unrealistic I’m being, but fuck me if I don’t hate Boston like a bad mofo should!

    • I wanted at least 6-4 on this AL East trip so a split with Boston is the minimum for me.

    • There will be no splitting the 4-gamer with the Massholians! Pshaw to such talk! It’s time for a fucking Boston beatdown to rub salt in the wounds left by the Ruins’ epic collapse. (I swear I enjoyed that as much as I was gutted by the Leafs’ debacle in May.) 3/4, maybe even sweep the Beaneaters…
Tiggers are playing meh right now and fairly suck on the road. Could be primed for another tear. 6-2 and then we get to kick the snot out of the moribund Twinkies going into the break. Schweet.

      • Speaking of another tear after this series … Buck Martinez made an interesting point on the radio a day or two ago about why visitng teams find Tropicana Field so tough to play in: the atmosphere is shit. Basically, you go from stadiums which have cheering crowds to a morgue. As much as I like the Rays and try to watch all Toronto games, I really can’t stand watching games from Tropicana Field.

      • As a Canucks fan, watching the Bruins’ enormous collapse was kind of beautiful.

Shame the Hawks had to win the Cup, though.
