Hey, is this season still going? Uh… cool?

I don’t know… the Jays are hitting the west coast, so at the very least, if we’re not watching a winning ballclub, we’re at least watching it at a humane hour for those of us inclined to live at the hour where life gets nailed. And yeah… yeah. Late night baseball. That’ll do.

Darren Oliver tells Shi Davidi of Sportsnet that this is his last year, that Alex Anthopoulos hasn’t approached him yet about permission to be dealt to a contender.

“Speculation, but informed speculation,” tweets Andy Martino of the New York Daily News. “NL exec who has spoken w Amaro lately thinks Phils move Cliff Lee. Chose Boston as likely destination.” Ugh.

  1. Fuck yeah! 7:00 baseball.

Steaks just off the bbq now. Beers getting my face. And a beautiful O.Co on my TV

  2. Hello from the west coast, er…western side of the country

  3. We really should trade oliver, even if it’s just for cash.

  4. Enjoying the west coast posts from here in Victoria!

  5. Tabby: “Oakland is a really good at winning 1 run games”

  6. How are the A’s this good? On paper, they have no business being where they are. Fucking sucks that the jays look way better on paper but A’s are way better in reality.

  7. Jesus-somebody get Melky a walker.

  8. Thank God we have 1 legged melky in left field.

That’s why gibbons is a tactician.

  9. Well, that’s enough for me with this one.

  10. hahaha this gun be good

  11. Well, this game is over fast.

  12. First game I decided to check out in about a week…and i’m good.

  13. Whelp. Im in this for the long haul. I fuckin love late night baseball, and this game is turning ugly reaaaal quick.

*sik* Drink up my hearties, hopefully itll be a good game at least. Forst king can down and the gf is on a beer run. Lets get monday drunk

  14. Gotta love the fan support for the 1st place Athletics. How is this stadium not packed?

  15. At least the red sox lost, woo hoo!

  16. Melky has to be the full time DH next year…

  17. Who were the cool bro’s chanting “USA USA”?

  18. Esmil thinking about the greater good.

Gonna be able to showcase our bullpen real soon

  19. So…Zaun can’t be serious with the pitch track rants, can he?

I know he’s an “old school” guy, but holy hell. That was painful to listen to.

  20. Colby has the worst arm in baseball

  21. Look at these averages, Esmil should be ashamed.
    Crisp, CF 0 1 0 0 1 0 0 .257
    Sogard, 2B 1 1 0 0 0 0 1 .271
    Lowrie, SS 1 1 1 1 0 0 0 .292
    Cespedes, LF 1 0 1 2 0 0 0 .229
    Moss, 1B 1 0 0 0 0 1 1 . 233
    Donaldson, 3B 0 0 0 0 1 0 0 .296
    Reddick, RF 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 .216
    Smith, S, DH 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 .246
    Vogt, C 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 . 217

  22. 4 runs on 2 hits – sigh – way to go Esmil and a tip of the hat to the defence.

  23. EE’s error was pretty big.

  24. That first inning was barely tolerable.

  25. Potato potato

  26. Lot of innings left until this is officially over.

  27. Can’t we trade Lind while he’s still hitting in the 200′s?

  28. These west coast trips regularly screw us over every year, i was kind of hoping our general shittiness would counteract this trend.

  29. jesus – Tabler is 10x more annoying when we’re losing

  30. When I see three ground balls get through the infield I don’t get too upset.

What makes me want to turn my TV off is pitchers who can’t throw strikes. It’s so. Fucking. Boring.

  31. This is not going to end well.

  32. I can’t watch this without seeing Jamie Campbell. It must be the hair.

  33. I can’t watch this anymore….I’m going to end up hammering an ice pick into my ear.

  34. Trade reyes now before he gets injured again

  35. I thought the 5 errors we had in a game last week was tough, but clearly its easy.

  36. So I’m guessing this is where Oakland gets their 1 hit for the inning and score 1 or 2 runs?

  37. This is an extremely talented team that just isn’t playing well.

    • If it wasn’t for the poor pitching it would be all this booting of the ball and general lack of execution that would be killing us.

  38. E5 makes an appearance! Big one too.

  39. What this team needs is some soft hands.

  40. Wednesday is going to be tought to watch. I can’t believe that meatball Colon is 14-3

  41. Nothing to do with the Reyes error, but Reyes’ first step on a grounder is awful.
He gets terrible reads off the bat. Anyone else?

  42. Wow great comparison of two teams. Oakland puts the ball in play, Jays huge home run swings in a massive ballpark = lazy fly balls

  43. I really hope AA writes this year off and makes a move or 2 before Wednesday to improve next years line up.

  44. Hahaha. Oakland’s post-run dugout celebrations suck. The Jays’ are much better.
The As must spend all their time between games taking ground balls, watching video and other useless crap. What a bunch of rubes.

  45. I wonder what Lawrie’s average will be by the end of the year? 180?

  46. Take that Josh Reddick!

  47. Very douchey play by Lawrie, right clowns?

  48. I didn’t think that was possible.
    Lawrie is some good.

  49. Let’s go for more errors versus their hits and or runs! Might be close!

  50. Stupid A’s and their hitting approach. Why not just try to hit homeruns?

  51. Hitters always break their slumps against us. At least we’re good for someting

  52. Done! Good night! Try the veal!

  53. More beers are needed for tonight

  55. No hitter anyone?

  56. Fuck this. Bedtime.

  57. This is fucking pathetic

  58. This is the most lopsided game of shit I have witnessed in quite some time

    • i took a shit in the bush last week and it was pretty fuckin lopsided, like that tower of pizza in the movie shows. you know the one where Elvis climbed and sung that song there

  59. “blue jays go quietly”

repeat nightly till end of season

  60. 7 pitches 3 outs…well done heart o the lineup. Swing harder!!!! 5 run hrs baby! Fuck baserunners down a bunch early!

  61. Well I got a date! Wish me luck!

  62. Boner = idiot and lowest common denominator

  63. Dear AA,

Please bring in a new hitting coach or get new players. I dont care. No way they’re competing next season with this group of hitters and this approach even with improved starting pitching. Ive seen this shitshow too many times this season.

    Frustrated jays fan

  64. Perfect game coming up!

  65. The Man from Muncie says fuck you to you know who you are.

  66. There! We were the first team to hit the ball over the wall! That means we win i think

  67. There it is, the only way to score via Gibbs. Does this mean we won?

  68. I really am looking forward to seeing Kevin Pillar soon…Melky to the DL with steroid deficiancy…

    • One can only hope this shit storm doesn’t continue. Patience everyone, it has only been a few decades.

  69. Here comes the error.

  70. Rays will not win 90 games.

Orioles are just lucky in 1 run games. They won’t keep winning.

    • I get you’re trying to parody Wilner and stuff, but the 1 run game thing is largely luck. Baltimore’s under .500 in them this year. It comes and it goes.

      • But they are 10 games over .500 overall so they weren’t lucky last year.

        • It’s not luck

          It’s Buck

        • No, Baltimore improved their team between last trade deadline and this one, so we’ve got two different teams here.

Players Baltimore has added in the last 365 days:
Manny Machado (4.4 WAR this season, 2nd on the team)
Nate McLouth (2.3 WAR, 4th on the team)
Miguel Gonzalez (1.4 WAR, 2nd among pitchers on the team; did not become a starter until July 6, 2012)
Scott Feldman (recently acquired, but his season total would rank 1st on Baltimore’s pitching staff)
          K-Rod (also recently acquired)
and a bunch of other insignificant players

Point being, Baltimore is not the same team that lucked its way into a winning record last season. They’ve added a number of high quality pieces since then that are performing.

  71. 7 runs. yes jesus thank you jesus

  72. Once a Masshole, always a Masshole.
    It just stands to reason.

  73. Or that…also was expecting a past ballencibia too. Two bagger for the win!

  74. Oakland can do this all they want, but they haven’t hit the ball over the wall yet, so….none of this counts.

  75. Good start!

Now let’s get these bases cleared with meaningless hit and keep our home run lead going into the 6th!

  76. Another inspired effort from the Jays tonite…Keep working on those home run dances, boys. That’ll get you to the playoffs. Er, that’s how you get in the playoffs, right? Best home run dances? No? Crap…

  77. If you look at all the times the Jays scored runs this year they were good. Other times bad luck that definitely has nothing to do with any managers or clubhouse related whatsits.

Ya I’m really looking forward to all the angry “fans” calling tonight. Don’t they know it takes a minimum of 30 years to build a playoff contender. Jeez, be patient!

  78. Ha, again…

Dustin with the save in the 5th!

    Here comes the pain!

  79. Well that was hit pretty well.

  80. Fuck off idiots

  81. 2 bombs!! o baby!! Fuck you slap hitting A’s.

  82. That was the softest hit ball I’ve seen in a long time…Melky why…

  83. Some interesting battles here with toronto to sort out…lowest average, most k’s (batter), highest starter era, and of course most errors/lowest fielding percentage! JP on an inner quest for past balls.

  84. What is this “baserunner” they speak of?

  85. This offense is so dynamic

  87. 3hrs to 0

    The route is on!

  88. lamb chops gets stretched out this game maybe?

  89. Pjuice coming alive.

  90. Any pitching this year were good

  91. My weighted balls never helped me this much during the dog days of summer.

Can the Jays bring the hear again this inning with the bottom of the lineup lingering after Cletus?

  92. WTF?

  93. Baserunner #2!

U know what to do bro!

  94. This guy is tapping out at 88 BARELY right now. Come on man.

  95. I get the feeling the whole strategy of centering your offense around home runs doesn’t play out very well in the gigantic coliseum that is Oakland’s home park.

  96. Is it not common courtesy to have your pants on before you open the bathroom door? Especially when a dugout camera is pointed directly at you?

  97. I’d be okay with trying McGowan as a starter if one of Dickey or Johnson decides they need to DL themselves for sucking.
