Probably where he picked up the “losing culture,” eh fuckfaces?

The Jays head to Minnesota to take on the Twins, because… y’know… they committed to this whole 162 game thing, and I guess there’s no turning back now.

Brendan Kennedy tweets that Todd Redmond will have his next start skipped, not because of health concerns, but because Gibbers wants to keep Dickey and Buehrle on regular rest.

Brendan also tells us that Ricky Romero is available to come out of the Jays’ bullpen tonight, as he’s on his fifth day of rest since his last start. He wasn’t available previously, apparently.

Kennedy also notes that Gibbons says Colby Rasmus is “making progress” in his recovery from injury, but the club still doesn’t know if he’ll actually get into any big league action before the season runs out.

According to a Gregor Chsiholm tweet, Rasmus will rejoin the club to continue his rehab, as there isn’t much activity at the Jays’ minor league complex anymore, now that minor league seasons have ended.

Gregor also notes that Steve Delabar won’t be available tonight after working an inning in the Jays’ last game in Arizona. The club will be monitoring his workload through the end of the season.

A couple interesting pieces from Kennedy in the Toronto Star, as he looks at Jeremy Jeffress, who was diagnosed with epilepsy earlier this year, and delves into the gory– note: literally (graphic images!)– details about Tommy John surgery.

  1. If the Jays win a game, and no one is watching, does it make a sound?

  2. Huh? I thought the game hasn’t started yet?

  3. Oh shit. Pelfrey.

  4. That’s cool, a run scored with no base hits or walks

  5. Moises Sierra is still only 24 years old? He’s been around so long I assumed he was older

  6. So Sportsnet just ran an article on top 10 Jays of all time….they put Hentgen and Clemens on the list, but left off Wells. Am I missing something? Am I crazy for thinking this?

    • I trust you mean David Wells and not Vernon Wells

      • Upon further examination of the stats I will recant that rant…but no, I meant Vernon. Not sure why Hentgen is on the list. amazing thatnI remember Vernon being so much better than his numbers

      • Yah Vernon wells did nothing as a Jay… are you serious? Gold gloves, all star CF with power etc etc etc. They needed to over pay him to get him to stay in Toronto, that’s not a newsflash. The contract was too much to live up to but not having him on the list of the greatest Jays ever is ignorant. Then the fans that boo him when he comes back to Toronto, yah because that is fair, right?

  7. Vernon should be on the list. The first half of his career with theJays was exemplary. I think people ( media included) spend too much time harping about his fuckin contract which he could never live up to and led to his exit from Toronto. It w/b akin to sayin Pujols is not that great because everyone is harping on his current deal not realizing he has been O/S for years. VDUB s/b there in my view

  8. If Thole can turn his bat around and replace JPA next year (as backup, hopefully we can sign real catcher) it would make me happy

    • And let’s be honest, JP hasn’t exactly set the bar very high offensively anyways. In really hoping Thole can at least hit a little. I’ll take good defence with below average hitting at the bottom of the order, but I’d rather bit have both.

      • Maybe this is the time to point out that, even with Arencibia’s low bar, Thole has somehow managed to hit even worse.

I don’t think you should be pinning your hopes on Thole.

  9. Does Dustin McGowan has a blackened left eye?

  10. 8th inning-17 fuckin comments. Where the fuk are those people who kept telling me they were still on the boat? Must be on the Yahntzee river in China or something. Shit while they were fuking the season away in April-may we often had 400+
Spuds. you talk about me going off into the fields..well where the fuk are ya, man?
Where’d the Night_manimal go? Karen, Bean, KGBS .fuk there will be no one left to say Merry Christmas to at this rate ‘cept you RADAR

  11. Janssen thinks he needs more leverage.

  12. I know it doesn’t matter, but that game made me so nervous in the end. Is there some sort of rule that I don’t know about??? Jays can score big early and (sometimes) late, but the middle innings are crap. I want to know the number of runs scored in innings 1-3 vs. 4-6 vs. 7-9 this year. I could probably look ‘em up myself, but I’m far too intoxicated at this point. I always joke with my bf that the Jays won’t even try to rally til the 9th. Has anyone else noticed?

    • I think you are overthinking things. Baseball is a very random game.

      • I totally could be, but I feel the 8th/9th inning rally has come up a lot this season. I don’t totally mind it… I love the dramatics…I just feel like it’s been a theme/pattern this summer. I just hope next season is a little bit more about ‘walk-off win’ vs. ‘too little too late’.

  13. Mark my words, Dickey will have a MONSTER season next year if he’s healthy. Anyone with a brain can tell he pitched a lot of this season hurt. He has managed to turn it around pretty good as of late. The fans just need to get behind him. It’s not his fault that he was traded for and certainly not his fault that he was pitching hurt. Buerhle also turned it right around. I am thinking good things will come from them next season but AA needs to add at least one of the free agent arms to the rotation this off season.

    • There will be plenty of moves to be made in the offseason.
Rogers got a taste of what happens when people get behind the team.

    • AA needs to get Tanaka. He’ll only cost money. I would love to see him get Choo, but I’m not holding my breath.

  14. Holy Shit!
    Too funny…
The banner across the top of the Sportsnet 590 page is selling Blue Jays tickets. It says TICKETS ON SALE NOW. Who’s in the picture on the banner?

    Freakin’ Ricky Romero! lol

  15. Everything is going to be alright.

  16. I just witnessed Petit’s near perfection in Frisco. I let out a squawk of agony for the man. Might go down as the closest to a perfect game in MLB history.

True story. The guy next to me was in the middle of telling me that he banged Michelle Pffifer during this tense 9th inning moment. I think his story grabbed my attention more that the no-no.

As he told me his sexual endeavors with this fine sex symbol, the ball dropped 1 foot in front of a diving Hunchback Hunter. I laughed, I cried, I sang, and I drank. Sensory overload.

  17. ahhhh..Pfeifer. She was hot in Tequila Sunrise and if I only had the balls..ugh I mean time..uhh I mean luck-wow I’m envious
Years ago Pedro Martinez had a perfect game for Mtl against Cincinnatti for 26 outs and then HIT the 27th guy. Some Moronic fans in Cinci said he did it on purpose!! Unreal. The 28th batter subsequently got a hit and the no hitter and the Shutout disappeared too. That was one of the most disappointing results I had seen.
BTW I was at a game in Philly in 70 when Gary Waslewski of Montreal faced the minimum 27 batters in the game, got credit for retiring 27 outs in a row, yet got neither a perfect game or a no-hitter. That may have been the best pitched game I ever saw in person even though it was 2 crap teams going at it

    • Wow you saw the Pedro game. Pedro was crazy as shit throwing inside, but damn, not great timing to let her get away.

You know what kinda pisses me off? Is when fans scold you for talking about the no no. All I asked this chick next to me if he had any walks. Then she gives me the big librarian shoosh. I told her, listen, this hush shit it’s getting outta hand, it’s important if your a player, but, otherwise if you’re a fan paying 100 bucks a ticket, damn rights I’m talkin about it. Sheeesh.

  18. re: Wilner, Melky just had a benign tumour in his spine removed. “Explains a lot.”

  19. Couple of nice catches by the young guys in the outfield tonight. Not sure Colby catches that.
