A high, clear sky (???) played havoc with defenders, whoever they were, as the Tigers played “five and fly,” as Dirk Hayhurst called it, and the Jays took full advantage of their ability to not bus any of their hitting stars to Lakeland for a Spring Training game that happened, but only just barely.

As my grade four teacher, Mr. Taylor, used to say, a tie is as good as a rest… or something like that, and this 6-6 draw between the Jays and Orioles was an excellent case in point:  I sure could have caught a few Zs somewhere in the middle of that one (shit, maybe I did!).

The Jays opened up their spring schedule with a victory in Lakeland over the Tigers, with our scrubs eventually overcoming their scrubs, and most of the action– if you really want to call it that– coming long after the big leaguers had hit the showers.
