serie ahh

We all agree that safety in South Africa is important. It's just that all of a sudden there's a big spike in concern. & people are frequently talking about safety in South Africa in the same breath as a bus attack in Cabinda as if there were a link. In some cases I find it in poor taste, not in yours.

dano

All I'm saying is that safety is an issue. I don't know how SA plans on handling security but i think that the safety of people at the WC is an issue (not just because of what happened with Togo).

serie ahh:
Are you saying the recent events in Angola are somehow a reflection of the safety of the World Cup in South Africa?

the protest by juventus fans in the game yesterday between milan and juve (lighting the stadium on fire sorta) was an embarassment to italian football. doubt this would happen in spain, germany and heaven forbid england. it makes italy look like a third world country. the funny thing is that stadium security did not seem to gve a shit. what a joke.

im really interested to see stefano okaka at fulham i think he has major upside.

speaking of third world this whole escapade in africa is exactly that...dont know what anyone else expects

For the first time ever I think players (entire national teams even) need to seriously consider attending the WC. If the safety of the people involved is comprimised how can FIFA allow this. SA should never have got the WC in my opinion and they have done nothing for me to change my opinion.

Adu is definately overaged. "African footballers are like cuban baseball players". That's good! hahaha

I don't think that the EPL has fallen off but rather talent being more evenly spread out than it was previously. Clubs are spending more money than ever before and you are able to build good squads without the name players that the bigger clubs have.
Players that return also may have learned something in their time away from England that they are now applying to make them better.

There aren't alot of top quality midfielders available that can do what the Essien's of the world do. More than ever football is offensive (even in Italy) and there are less and less players that can break up attacks. This has more to do with the Viera signing than anything. Teams used to defend first, now the emphasis is on attacking. Which has led to the creation of the holding/defensive midfielder.

I think the Adu allegations (speculation?) may not be too far off. When I first saw pictures of him at the claimed age of 14, he was built like no other 14 year old on the planet. He had the musculature of someone who was pretty much fully developed. I guess such crazy development could have been what made him a worldbeater, but when you add in his underperformances at the senior level (against what would be his actual peers) and the dubious record keeping that may be in place in Ghana, I think the idea that he is older than claimed has a fair bit of traction. Bone scan anyone?

Congrats to Teal Bunbury. Here is hoping that he reaches his ful potential and suits up for the red and white (fuck the blue). We need all the top young talent we can get.

i would love it if you guys discussed the enigma that is Freddy adu in one of your podcast ....i cant believe how much he has fallen off as a player...it kinda makes you even wonder if he really is 20 years old....i mean to play that well in restricted age competitions and yet look like the invisible man when playing older athletes is quite astounding to me...it seems he has made no progression at all
