Happy Monday. Three totally unrelated points:
1) I was sort of disappointed that your dead horse picture didn’t link to the Guns n’ Roses song of the same name.
2) Great article by Simon Kuper today — thanks for finding it.
3) Is there any chance you can add Valencia highlights to the Barca and Real videos you normally link to? I have found them an absolute joy to watch the past couple of years — I’m starting to think they’re the best pure-attacking team in Europe this side of Barcelona.
1) Yeah that probably would have been better. Charlie Brown popped into my head after hearing a while back that Andy Carroll was the “biggest Charlie”, even though I have no idea what that means.
2) Kuper knocks it out of the park, as usual.
3) Sure. I can mix in some Valencia going forward.
Out of my deeply held respect for all of you gunners fans, I’ll refrain from pointing out the predictability of another flowery, impotent perfomance by the toddlers. Rather than compound your misery, I will defer to that that sinking feeling in the pits of your collective stomachs and the unavoidable recognition that your team is shite. Yes, this week I will take the high road and not go on some raging diatribe about the your delusional Manager or his inadequate disciples. There is, after all, something to be said for tact and diplomacy.
You’re welcome.
Nam, I will follow your lead of respect and refrain from saying that you personally sound like a massive douchebag.
it’s a good thing terry didn’t get transfered to man city as it was rumored prior to the season starting. can you imagine this thing getting more press? bridge might’ve quit football altogether.
MASSIVE game between liverpool and arsenal this week. arsenal are probably favourites to win but current form might give liverpool the edge.
It’s disappointing to see that Arsenal are not going to win the title this year, and I don’t need to go into our weaknesses, everyone knows. We have to regroup and finish strong this season and not put our heads down. Sure I know we don’t have a striker or a reliable leftback and keeper, but there’s nothing that can be done about that. Might as well just do the best we can and make a go for the Champions League. On to Liverpool!
Btw if anyone saw Barcelona vs Getafe on the weekend they were very good. They are starting to show their best now. Watching Messi and Iniesta are exactly the reasons why I can’t jump on the Rooney World Player of the Year bandwagon. They are just pure class. Unbeaten this year, Barcelona are an absolute joy. I don’t know if the Premier League is the best but they don’t have a Barcelona.
Montpellier 3 points off the top? Would never have predicted. Hope Bordeaux go far in Champions League, I think they are not too shabby :)
The media has been kicked into hyperactive mode as of today, especially the English medias intent on bringing down Arsenal or Arsene Wenger (choose who you will). Its time for Wenger to go, their fighting for fourth place now, blah, blah, blah and blah, etc. We all know that Arsenals performance in the last 7 days has been poor, but two games does not merit a season there is still more than a dozen games left, and Man U and Chelsea could still drop points.
Before the season Arsenal were written off and now it are just rubbish, people make up your minds or if you dont have anything constructive to say then shut-up, and what really surprised me was the thinly wailed personal attacks directed at Arsene Wenger by some so called journalists (umm, umm Phil McNulty of the beeb), we all know that Arsenal have sort comings and so do all the other teams in the league, its not like they’re fighting off relegation.
Rant over!
Robihno’s goal was nice. Still amazes me how the last year has been for him
“Montpellier 3 points off the top? Would never have predicted. Hope Bordeaux go far in Champions League, I think they are not too shabby :)”
Montpellier are the story of Europe right now. I’m really rooting for them.
