I freakin love you guys …you don’t even know…..cmon Fernando!!!!
What a dissappointment!
Your advertising says English Premier League football
I turn it on and I get some amateur juvenile basketball tournament,
It is not a satisfactory substitute for soccer.
If you must replace soccer on your broadcast with some amateur extravaganza
pleaase not teenage basketball.
I came online to berate TheScore after I looked through the channel guide and saw that our beloved second dose of Sunday EPL was not LIVE, but instead replaced by NCAA Basketball. But to my delight you guys have won a reprieve by giving us the live stream of Blackburn v Chelsea, thankyou! However, ok I realise north american sports channels are always going to bow before the weight of popularity of certain sports and competitions, March Madness a case in point…. but still, some timeslots should not be messed with, especially seeing that Footy fans tune in, week in week out, and give loyalty to the Footy Show and your EPL coverage.
Cheers.
Agree with Brian. I first must praise theScore for EPL coverage and the best discussion on all things footy on Canadian airwaves (though the competition is just about nil). But having said that, this channel has far too much bad American second tier sports, macho crap MMA, and general filler designed to appeal to teenage boys. Even during Sunday morning footy, I can guarantee that no one is tuning to follow the the electronic graffiti scrawling across the bottom of the screen about lesser sports.
You have the right to the EPL so what gives??? Show us the beautiful game or give them up!!!
Guys, the NCAA tournament makes the score a decent amount of cash (unfortunately). As well, we’re still affected by the time change. England hasn’t made their change yet, but we have, so it screws up the timing.
And honestly, do you think any of the other channels are better? CBC, TSN and Sportsnet, they’d all prefer to put hockey/baseball/basketball/NFL/CFL/Curling/Poker (etc) on instead of footy. Just be glad the stream is online.
Thanks for the stream. Great result for Blackburn (and Arse and United).
I’m really getting sick of the minimal English football coverage we’re getting for our expensive cable money these days. My team, United, are leading the EPL again, but other than a couple of European matches I don’t believe they’ve aired anywhere but Setanta since New Year’s. What gives? If we don’t get more United games aired before the end of the season I’m going to have to change my viewing habits next season. Either give in and pay Setanta the ransom (at which point I’ll have little or no use left for Score and Sportsnet), or, following your current lead, I’ll just look for live streams on the internet and do without cable “sports” channels entirely. You’re cutting your own throats!
Can you not show games like United v Liverpool later on, if necessary? Like in place of the constant, repetitive, looping “highlight” reels later in the day/evening.
Believe it or not, you’re losing your audience to The Latin Network. Must I really become a Milan fan now?
“Can you not show games like United v Liverpool later on, if necessary?”
No, we can’t.
some people commenting here are idiots thinking you can just put on anything on tv. you have one guy threatening to stop watching the network if he doesn’t get his way even though I’m sure there are tons of more people watching march madness.
you guys do a great job here at the score and even go out of your way to put up a stream even though you probably don’t have to.
keep up the good work.
Some of these comments are pure gold. The Score has showed College B-Ball for a while now so this shouldn’t have been a surprise to anyone that they aren’t showing football games this Sunday.
Although football is the greatest sport on the planet, college basketball is the way basketball should be played and is a joy to watch if you give it a chance.
I’m watching Marseille vs Lyon right now however.
I just watched the Sampdoria-Juventus match on TLN. Not bad for an Italian game. Wonder if the French game is still on?
i gave in and got setenta a while back, it’s a must have for all epl fans. I dont know why everyone is bashing on the score, march madness is huge….this isnt like some curling on T**. Another thing, the score has the games on in beautiful HD; one thing setanta dose not have. the score has also always shown some of the biggest games on the season on sundays, i can remember countless games involving man utd vs chelsea or utd vs arsenal shown on the score, soo relax
(This is not aimed at The Score itself. It’s aimed at our broadcasters in general).
Well, I don’t know who the fault ultimately lies with: Setanta, Sportsnet, The Score, the FA schedulers, or somebody else entirely, but this has been a VERY disappointing season for Canadian United fans who don’t have Setante (we don’t even have it available as an option in my area). The team have accomplished yet another successful season, yet we’ve been able to see very little of it at home, despite having to pay for all these cable channels. The sportscasters possibly aren’t even aware of the problem, since they obviously are getting to see every single game that they want. But how about sparing a thought for the rest of us in future? If coverage doesn’t pick up soon a lot of your viewers are going to seek out alternative ways to get the matches that we want. If that means upgrading our internet to get overseas streams, and we have to pay for that by cutting back on our cable service, then that’s not going to help the cable companies is it?
We used to get 3 games on a Saturday, and one on Sunday. Now we’re down to just one mid-level match each day, if we’re lucky. And we’re paying more for cable than we were before. How are we supposed to be happy with that? How is it that TLN are able to show something like 3 games each weekend, plus the Europa League? Running ads for tomato trees and restaurants! Is Italian football that much cheaper than the English PL? I doubt it.
There’s a simple solution to missing United matches because they’re on Seta ta: get Setanta. It’ not cheap, but if you want to follow EPL, it’s the obvious choice. Setanta owns a large majority of EPL rights, then sell them off to other channels. That’s why 3+1 has reduced to 1+1, or whatever it is ( I don’t know because I bought Setanta and never miss the games I want to see. Except for Romanian league, but I guess you can’t have it all.
Despite purchasing other channels, I still watch The Footy show whenever I can. Solid insight, ongoing discussion threads that weave throughout blog, podcast and show, fun interactives with a lively community, and I catch teams I’d otherwise miss. Win, win, win, WIN.
I have no beef with March Madness even though I don’t rate hoops. As a football fan in Canada for about three decades, I remember grabbing Monday newspapers to find scores and excitement when the one game a week was finally aired. Almost fainted when y team was on. I’m used to being a hardcore supporter of a “niche sport”.
Now I can watch more footy than hockey. In Canada. I can watch more EPL footy than the English. Our boys at The Score find a great backup solution and people still piss and moan. Get over it. Be thankful that our footy guys ( re: JR) took time to provide something when they could have slept in instead.

The way I look at it, if we pay Setanta we’re enabling them to buy up all the rights next time too. I want to go back to the way things were, pre-Setanta. In fact I’m not sure this is really “Setanta” anyway. From the way Sportsnet refer to and advertise them it sounds like they are just another branch of Sportsnet that Rogers is maintaining as a way to extort additional profits out of football fans. If we want football to grow in this country we need MORE affordable coverage for the general audience, not coverage for a small die-hard few who are willing and able to pay more. It’s like the way football is going in Britain. It used to be a working man’s sport, but increased prices are making it so that only the well off can afford to attend PL matches regularly. The end result will be people switching to other, more accessible sports, or possibly finding less positive ways to use their time and energies, like hanging around supermarkets mugging pensioners. It’s a slippery slope we’re on here. Especially with all the ridiculous brainless brawler shows being aired these days..
