What do you think we talked about today? We took your calls & tweets on ‘Ave Your Say Thursday and to no surprise, you had a lot to say about Fabio Capello. It was a full house on today’s show as James Sharman, Thomas Dobby, Brendan Dunlop & Kristian “rarely at the office on Thursdays” Jack talked about the former England manager, what he might do next, how the FA rebuilds their reputation and wonder what ‘Arry must be thinking.

KJ…you are right that the number of penalties is increasing. Check out the chart here…

*I looked at another site (and there were some discrepancies in the exact numbers) but the trend definitely shows an increase, especially over the past few seasons
The distressing thing is that the increase seems to be largely due to more 50-50 calls being given (often when the ref isn’t even positioned well enough to tell who the offending party is). Basically, the benefit of the doubt is being given to attackers rather than defenders a lot of the time now, which is completely backwards in my view, especially with the recent rise of “simulation”.
