NHL 13 does a great job putting real life game scenarios into their “NHL Moments Live” feature. They announced tonight that they’ve added in last week’s Oilers / Kings game when Nail Yakupov tied the game with 4.7 seconds left in regulation, then slid across the ice on his knees in celebration (see the GIF below).

EA Sports commemorated this moment by adding a screenshot of Nail “Yakupoving”, but didn’t mention whether or not it’s actually featured in the game. We sent them a tweet asking them if the move is actually doable when he scores, and they replied with:

So maybe it’s not as good, but shoutout to the NHL crew at EA Sports for recognizing this iconic moment in Oilers history.

  1. that has been in the game since the 2012 edition.

they added a feature that let you do numerous celebrations after a goal.

along with sliding on your knees, you can slide on your belly flat out and even ride our stick like tiger williams.

so i guess its even more kudos to ea sports for having it in there 2 years before it happened.
