EA Sports released this video today with some more Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 in-game footage, highlighting their “Legends of the Majors” mode. This mode is a new feature for this year’s game, allowing you to travel back in time and play against golf’s legends like Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Bobby Jones, Seve Ballesteros, Tiger Woods himself (of course), and others. If you’re a Tiger Woods PGA Tour fan, you’re well aware that the last few years of the franchise haven’t introduced anything new to write home about. EA Sports looks to change this by introducing “Swing Style”, a new feature that will allow you to create your own approach to how you play.
When creating your golfer, you’ll be able to customize your swing based off of these four components: type, shape, trajectory and handedness (see above). Here’s how they work:
Type: you can choose between a power swing or a controlled swing
Shape: you can choose from a fade (ball curves from left to right) or a draw (right to left)
Trajectory: changes the altitude of your ball flight. You can choose low, medium, or high
Handedness: shaping your shot depends on whether you’re left or right handed
You’ll be able to play around with these four components to create 24 different swing combinations. Here’s vid highlighting new features in the game:
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 drops on March 26th for XBOX 360 and the PlayStation 3.
For the 4th year in a row, Tiger Woods won’t be the only golfer featured on the cover of his titled game. EA Sports announced this morning that World Golf Hall of Famer Seve Ballesteros and the number one ranked Rory McIlroy will join Tiger on the European cover of Tiger Woods: PGA Tour 14.
This marks the first time in the franchise’s history that three golfers have appeared on the cover together. With his scandal a few years back plus decline in performance, could they be trying to phase Woods out of the cover? Probably not right now, but it’s a reasonable question. EA Sports phased out Madden in early 2000 (pictured below), and it didn’t affect sales at all.
So I ask the question: would you still buy Tiger Woods: PGA Tour games if Tiger wasn’t on the cover? Let me know your thoughts.
