When a game is good, it gets a cult following and College Hoops 2K8 is no exception to the rule. Over the weekend, raiderfan247365 on the Operation Sports forum posted an update for the college basketball game with all new rosters, just in time for March Madness.

Last night we downloaded the update and gave it a go. While a great effort, there are some things wrong with this game which makes the video somewhat inaccurate:

  • Only 1 play-in game, which doesn’t really matter, but 2K8 had LIU defeating the Dukes, instead of the other way around.
  • We played 10 minute quarters instead of 20. The score would’ve been more unrealistic had we gone 20.
  • The bracket isn’t set properly in terms of regions, so there’ll be some mismatches.

Either way, it’s a simulation. Of a video game. Released 6 years ago. Chill, and just enjoy it.

Notable upsets:

  • (11) Bucknell over (6) Butler, 76-54
  • (14) Harvard over (3) New Mexico, 71-67
  • (13) SD State over (4) Michigan, 65-63
  • (16) NC A&T over (1) Louisville, 63-57
  • (12) Oregon over (5) Oklahoma St, 83-76
  • (13) New Mexico St. over (4) Saint Louis, 63-58
  • (11) Saint Mary’s over (6) Memphis, 75-73
  • (14) Valparaiso over (3) Michigan St., 82-71

And now the finale:

And now, what you’re waiting for: the NHL 13 All-Star Game Simulation. Thanks for all of your participation in this, it was a lot of fun:

Welcome to Franchise Mode, a blog dedicated to sports gaming across all platforms. If you’re familiar with us at theScore, we’ve been delving into video game simulations for the last three or so months. Franchise Mode will now be the home for all things sports gaming: sims, news, videos, reviews and previews.

So let’s kick things off with our final NFL sim of the year: Super Bowl XLVII. While most are focusing on the big storylines (Harbaugh vs. Harbaugh, Ray Lewis crying, Jim Harbaugh’s appearance on Saved by the Bell), I just want to know if David Akers can kick a field goal. He has an opportunity in the sim below, so give it a watch:
