Four years ago Brent Hayden missed the 100m Freestyle final. Hayden, the reigning world champion at the time, vowed to come back in 2012 to right a wrong.
Mission accomplished.
A fantastic final 50m saw Hayden briefly capture the lead before being overtaken by gold medalist Nathan Adrian of the United States. The Canadian lost out on Silver to Australian James Magnussen by a very small margin.
The Mission, B.C native acknowledged he had held back in Beijing – hoping to qualify for the final without racing his hardest. This time around Hayden didn’t fool around, qualifying for the final with the fifth fastest time.
