This is the final reminder that Getting Booked: The Second Chapter is scheduled for tonight: Monday, March 7th at 7:00 PM at Opera Bob’s Public House.
By now I’m sure you all know that Getting Booked is our monthly baseball book club that gives all of us baseball nerds an excuse to put off our social anxieties for one night and meet up under the guise of intelligent discussion about books to drink beer and talk about baseball. Last time, there were even girls there.
Tonight we’ll be discussing Dirk Hayhurst’s The Bullpen Gospels, which is somewhat timely considering the amount of pages the book dedicates to Spring Training and the fact that the St. Petersburg Times ran this feature on the man, the myth, the legend this morning.
If you haven’t had a chance to finished reading the book yet, don’t worry. It’s still worth your while to come on down and talk baseball afterwards with some new friends.
I’m not sure if I ever linked to it, but here’s a feature that Eye Weekly ran about the book club ahead of our last meeting.
Who: You, me and everyone we know.
What: Getting Booked: The Getting Blanked Baseball Book Club Chapter Two.
Why: Because there’s too much hockey on television, and baseball lends itself more than any other sport to talking about it.
When: Monday, March 7th, 2011 at 7:00 PM EST.
Where: Opera Bob’s Public House, 1112 Dundas Street West (near the corner of Dundas and Ossington).
Just out of curiosity, did the book’s cover remind anyone else of this other cover?
