Washington Nationals prospect Bryce Harper went down in serious pain while running to first base in a scrimmage game this morning.  He was eventually carted off the field with what appeared to be an injured ankle.

Worries immediately spread among Nationals fans who likely couldn’t help but recall when Stephen Strasburg tore his UCL this past summer.  However, the scare was all for naught as the Nationals just announced that Harper only sprained his left ankle and will be listed as “day-to-day.”

Contributing to the fears of Nationals fans was that there were few people in attendance at the Minor League Spring Training game and it took more than 30 minutes for any information to be released.

  1. Man, if that injury was serious I was going to have to place the Clippers Curse denomination on the Nats’ franchise.

  2. Ha. It would’ve inspired a Bleacher Report post: The top ten unluckiest franchises with injuries to young prospects while they’re still young ever in the world today.

  3. Along with an offshoot top ten WAGs list from those top ten unluckiest franchises with injuries to young prospects while they’re still young ever in the world today. ;)

  4. Still more fans there than at their home park.
