Jose Bautista Out For Series

Bad news for Blue Jays fans: Jose Bautista has left the team in Toronto to attend to a family matter (insert Carl Winslow joke here). He isn’t expected to return to the club until after its three game set with the Oakland Athletics, when the Blue Jays travel to Los Angeles to take on Vernon Wells and the Angels.

Jayson Nix will get an extended look at third base in Bautista’s absence, as Juan Rivera takes over in right field and Edwin Encarnacion slips into the designated hitter role.

UPDATE: The family matter was actually the birth of Bautista’s first child, a baby girl. Congratulations to the Jays slugger and his family.

They could let JP Ahrens Ibia DH every day that he doesn’t catch. Come on Cito

  2. even in his absence, bautista is helping us out. by getting E5 the hell off the infield.

  3. Nix should not be starting games. JPA should be DHing.
