A big thanks to Baseball Think Factory for alerting me to a certain significant at bat that occurred in the first inning of a game in Arizona on Saturday. The Diamondbacks Ian Kennedy pitched to Starlin Castro of the Chicago Cubs, setting up the biggest Kennedy/Castro showdown since the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Kennedy got the best of Castro in the first at bat, which resulted in a fly out to left field, but Castro redeemed himself during his second plate appearance in the top of the fourth, hitting a lead off double. Kennedy then got the last laugh, striking Castro out twice, in the top of the fifth and eighth inning.
USA! USA! USA!
