And Then There Was One

Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Henry Blanco had two hits last night, meaning that there is now only one position player left in all of baseball who has been on an active roster all season and has yet to get a hit. That man is none other than Matt Stairs.

In fairness to the Canadian slugger, it should be noted that he’s only had 18 plate appearances in 2011, and started a single game. However, if Stairs is ever going to get a hit he might be inclined to swing his bat a little bit more. As it stands right now, Stairs has swung at less than 25% of the pitches he’s seen.
