For some reason, baseball cleats haven’t inspired an entire subculture like their more stylish baseketball cousins. Credit the utilitarian/purpose-built nature of the footwear or the impracticality of cleats for everyday use, if you will.

Orioles starting pitcher Jeremy Guthrie is out to change that. Above you see his exclusive Nike Air Jordan I Max cleats done up in Orioles orange and black.

As the linked blog post states, don’t expect to see these cleats at your local Bob’s Sporting Goods. Professional athletes are just better than you. They get things only they could afford for free, and custom-made baseball shoes at their beck and call. It’s just the way it works.
