My speculation was all for naught, as that crafty John Farrell LIED to us all once again. No member of the Jays bullpen was sent to the Minors or designated for assignment. Instead, Casey Janssen was placed on the Disabled List with a sore right forearm.

In 27 and two third innings this season, Janssen has collected the lowest FIP and xFIP of all the relievers on the Blue Jays. His 0.6 wins above replacement also ranks him as the best of the team’s bullpen. Perhaps most surprisingly though, given his low swinging strike rate is that Janssen also has the best K/BB rate on the team. In other words, he’s been the team’s best reliever. The right hander is also one of only three relievers in the league with as many innings pitched as him to not have given up a home run yet.

His spot on the roster will be filled by John McDonald, who should see some immediate action as the team begins the interleague portion of its 2011 schedule with a visit to Cincinnati on Friday.

  1. This is a lie. Casey is not injured. He just pitched a few days ago. Now it seems to me they were going to send him down but since how well he’s pitched in order to avoid bad pub, they said to him, we can either send you down or put you on the DL and you can collect a ML salary. Which one do you think he chose?
