Good news for fans of prospect porn on a national stage: Nationals uber-prospect Bryce Harper will appear at this year’s XM All Star Futures Game in Arizona. The annual exhibition game allows generally uninformed fans like me glimpses of a few future stars scattered among scores of Quad-A flameouts.

Harper, the number one prospect in baseball according to Baseball America, is putting up super duper gaudy minor league numbers as an 18-year old at Single A. 14 home runs, 13 steals, a 55/37 strikeout to walk ratio all culminating in a fancypants 1.014 OPS in the pitching-rich Sally League.

No official word if Mike Trout, the Bree Olsen to Harper’s Alt Angel, will play. The Angels top prospect is putting up equally crazy numbers as a 19-year old at AA. Trout’s 9 home runs, 9 triples, 14 doubles, 24 steals and 53/35 K/BB. That’s a .434 wOBA, folks. And that ain’t not bad.

  1. I’ve found that I don’t like reading about other teams’ top prospects (especially top prospects just entering the majors) while Lawrie is down with his injury. It just makes me think of what Lawrie could be doing right now if he had the chance.

  2. I’ve found I don’t like reading about winning teams while the Blue Jays season is still going on…

  3. I’ve gotten more or less used to that aspect of being a Jays fan.

  4. Wow, Harper is really easing up the the eyeblack these days. What, no more eyeblack Ultimate Warrior?
