Arizona Or Bust

I think this picture is worth keeping for two reasons: 1) It’s a nice reminder of the two Toronto Blue Jays players participating in the 2011 All-Star Game in Phoenix; and 2) Is it remotely possible for anyone to look at Jose Bautista in this picture, compare his size to Ricky Romero and maintain a shred of believability that he’s on some sort of steroid or other performance enhancing drug regimen?

  1. I think his beard is on steroids. Yeah, I said it.

  2. I tried pointing this out to an idiot Yankee fan. He said “Jose must be on something new.”

    Sigh

  3. So you’re saying Ricky’s on ‘roids, right?

  4. Haha. I knew someone would take it that way.

  5. Somebody get that man a hamburger!

  6. another horribly written piece of lazy journalism that needs to look at this picture:

  7. Alex Sanchez didn’t look like he was on steroids either. I expected more. That’s a copout mainstream media answer. “he doesn’t look like he was on steroids”

  8. “Jose must be on something new” is code for “he’s not wearing pinstripes”

  9. Jose should seriously consider suing some of these hacks for libel.

  10. He looks small next to Ricky because he’s a “nutritional overachiever”.

  11. what do you expect from stupid americans? these are the same people that say barrack obama is a muslim or was born in kenya. they have an agenda and never let the truth get in the way.

  12. He is on a magical substance that has no physical side effects and cannot be detected by any known test. He is also the only player in baseball to have found this magical drug, and is unwilling to share with anyone.

Did I mention that he knew he had this magic formula but still signed a long term contract for much less than he would have gotten at the end of this season.

So not only is he juicing, he is also a fool!

by the way, I was being sarcastic

  13. Nice work grouchy, what says “intelligent” more than broad sweeping statements indicting an entire nation for the words of a small, small minority? Do you think that all of his votes for the game came from Canada and Dominican? Get a grip.

  14. @ “They”

To be fair, grouchy never states that all americans are stupid. The “they” he could be referring to are the “stupid americans” which doesn’t point to the entire nation, just the stupid people in it. I understand where you are coming from, but it can be read a different way.

  15. Will we remember today as the day that ended Jose Bautista’s beast mode?
I have a bad feeling about this home run derby.

  16. Does anyone have an actual list of batters who’s home run production actually evaporated after the derby? I think it’s all folksy superstition.

  17. The list is about Bobby Abreu long.

But funny to see that even in the Derby, the Jays can’t make the playoffs.
