New York Mets shortstop Jose Reyes led off his team’s final game of the season with a bunt single. He was then pulled from the game and replaced by a pinch runner to a chorus of boos from Mets fans. You see, it just so happens that the bunt single raised his batting average to a National League leading .337. In order to beat it, Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun will have to go at least three for four tonight.

As you might have expected from the always rational users of Twitter, a calm and measured response:

I’m really not sure what’s worse: caring about a batting title or caring about caring about batting titles. It’s 2011. A batting average is about as important as Mike Scioscia’s opinion¬†on trades.

  1. I’m not sure how you can argue with the tight logic of shamtown.

  2. Memories of how Roberto Alomar ended his career as a Blue Jay

  3. Let’s hope Braun goes 3 for 4. Karma’s a bitch.
