In this morning’s link dump, I included several quotes from general managers at the GM Meetings in Milwaukee. Yesterday, Toronto Blue Jays’ GM Alex Anthopoulos spoke with MLB Network’s Brain Kenny, the host of the excellent Clubhouse Confidential, about what exactly happens at the annual get together for MLB executives.

Anthopoulos also spoke quite bluntly about the trade that sent Mike Napoli to the Texas Rangers for Frank Francisco, claiming that no one could have predicted Napoli’s break out season or presumed that how he hit with the Rangers is how he would have hit anywhere else.

You like to believe that everyone is gonna have the same success with each club, but sometimes it’s timing, it’s atmosphere.

  1. Did anyone notice the related video “Coming Friday…” that shows up after this one is finished? In it, Romero, Bautista and others are wearing what appears to be the new uniforms.

  2. Good call! Just noticed that as well! Those are for sure the new unis.

  3. I still say that the Jays needed a player of Napoli’s pre-insanity skillset more than they needed Francisco’s.
