The field of potential landings spots for Yu Darvish gets thinner by the second. Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post cites multiple sources within the Washington Nationals organization claiming they are not one of the teams to post a bid for the Japanese fireballing trending topic.

The Nationals scouted Darvish closely for years, determining he was “frankly better” than previous Japanese hurlers to come across the pond. The team that handed Jayson Werth a nine-figure contract concluded, in the end, that the risk outweighs the reward for the Yu man on campus.

The Nationals have their own rotation anchor, thank you very much. The Nats only fork over eight-digit contracts to players who might be serious health risks and are yet to throw a big league pitch. That’s just sound policy.
