Rise of the Machine

This is a photo, culled from the twitter feed of one Adam Kimelman, who does things for NHL.com. This photo shows construction beginning in earnest for the NHL’s Winter Classic game, taking place at Citizen’s Bank Park in Philadelphia on New Years Day January 2nd. Is nothing sacred?

Also beginning in earnest: the pre-season training of Roy Halladay, it seems. Outside, in shorts, on a 45 degree day. Because why not?

Unless, of course, it isn’t Roy Halladay. Details are hazy. Roy Halladay is a lot like Batman but better, he’s both the hero we need AND the hero we need right now. It’s okay to graft your hopes and dreams onto Roy Halladay, he’s training hard to carry the burden. Accept no substitute.

I said NO SUBSTITUTE.

  1. Where’s the gossiping? CHARLIE MORTON ISN’T A PHILLY

  2. Haha, of course it’s Charlie Morton. He really is taking this impersonating Halladay thing to the limit, isn’t he? Brandy Halladay and the kids are going to wake up Christmas morning and find Morton there instead of Roy.

  3. The Winter Classic is on Jan. 2nd.
