In his link dump on Sunday, Travis Reitsma brought us a lovely little Twitter exchange between Miami Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen who is believed to have taken to social media in response to Jake Peavy’s recent comments about the former White Sox manager quitting on the team late in the year.
Not to be outdone, Sunday evening found Jose Canseco alone with his thoughts and a smart phone after a viewing of Moneyball. Of course, he took to Twitter to share those thoughts with the world.
Just saw the movie money ball .it was awesome congrats billy I especially loved the part about you and your daughter.ps I would have played for you back then for free.I was one of those misfits who needed a second chance
Canseco did actually receive a second chance in Oakland a couple years prior to Moneyball. He was acquired from the Boston Red Sox prior to the 1997 season. At the end of the year, Billy Beane took over as the general manager in Oakland. Canseco was then granted free agency two weeks later.
Not deterred by events from the past, Canseco followed up his original tweet with this:
Billy beane call me would love to dh for you just give me a tryout that’s all I ask
Yeah, about that . . .
