Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Nyjer Morgan will be participating in a practice this afternoon with the San Jose Sharks. The Bay Area native grew up playing hockey, and even suited up for the Regina Pats of the WHL for seven games before deciding to focus full-time on baseball almost a decade ago.
Morgan’s status as a fan of his home town Sharks was discovered during a segment on Rome Is Burning, for which he wore a custom jersey of the team’s, complete with a number two on the back. This isn’t your typical publicity stunt either. Morgan is a serious fan of San Jose.
I’m really excited to get on the ice with the team. I’ve been a diehard fan since the team came to San Jose in 1991. I will never forget the George Kingston and Patty Falloon days. I’m not sure the guys are ready for me!
