Since the beginning of 2009, the Indians center fielder has missed a whopping 250 games due to injury.
Adding insult, in some degree, to his latest injury is that Cleveland signed Sizemore this past off season to a $5 million contract after paying him $500,000 at the end of 2011 to opt out of their $9 million club option for 2012.
However, his current deal still could end up being worth as much as $9 million, although it’s not likely after this latest piece of bad news considering that the incentives are based around plate appearances and Sizemore potentially winning the comeback player of the year.
Every fan base in the Major Leagues viewed the hard working and hustling center fielder as the type of low risk high reward investment that ultimately led to the Indians’ aggressive pursuit of the 29 year old whose entire MLB career has taken place in Cleveland.
