Quelle surprise! The Philadelphia Phillies have sent Domonic Brown to minor league camp.
Yes. The team sent Domonic Brown to the Minors. The same Domonic Brown who has very little to prove at the Triple A level. The same Domonic Brown who projects to be one of the team’s best sources of offense. The same Domonic Brown who will turn 25 years old this year. The same Domonic Brown who is far and away a better option than John Mayberry Jr or Scott Podsednik or Juan Pierre.
And yet, despite all this, we knew it was coming. In fact, the only person who was legitimately surprised by the move seems to be Brown himself.
I’m going to go down there, play hard, and that’s it. I really don’t have anything else to say. I was not expecting it.
Poor, sweet, innocent Domonic Brown. Surprised by the Phillies delaying a prospect’s development.
It may be upsetting right now, but if the recent past is anything to go by, Brown will eventually get his chance to shine, and then Ruben Amaro and the rest of Philadelphia’s front office will all think of him as being younger than he actually is and after a few years offer him a ridiculous contract extension that pays for a good chunk of his declining years.
Here you go, Phillies fans:
