Thoughts on Strasmas, the newest evolution of Roy Halladay, and the resiliently rubber arm of Justin Verlander. Then, in the wake of Madison Bumgarner’s contract extention, we talk about the “Super Two” designation. Where it comes from and what it means and, most importantly, what it means to fans not so interested in the economics of the game (hint: fans wanting to see their team’s prospects at the big leagues get the bum’s rush.)

  1. Jose & Brett & J.P. & Ricky, these are a few of my favourite things..
    when the bat whiffs,
    when the tag misses
    When I’m feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don’t feel so bad

  2. Where’d you get your sick tee Drew?

  3. Yeah, I commented on Halladay’s many evolutions on Twitter last night after the game. He’s throwing less two seamers than ever before in his career (and looks quite different from the guy that pitched in Toronto because of it).

Last night, the notably low total (13%) may have had to do with his difficulty locating the pitch for strikes, but it seems he’s making a concerted effort to throw his other 3 pitches more. Considering his incredible #s last year, that approach certainly doesn’t seem to be hurting him.

  4. Stoeten needs some kind of Gothic intro music when he does his arm shaking thing.

  5. Very good segment today here and on DJF. Best in a while imo.
