Manny Ramirez, who is currently serving a 50-game suspension for violating baseball’s performance-enhancing drug policy, is expected to report to Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday. He will be eligible to join the Athletics on May 30th.

Ramirez, who signed a one-year deal with Oakland this off season, has been working out at extended spring training in Arizona since late March.

The Athletics will have plenty of decisions to make come the end of the month, including where Manny fits in their lineup. Josh Reddick has solidified himself as the number three hitter, and Yoenis Cespedes has played well from the clean up spot. Could Manny be placed in the five hole as the designated hitter?

Oakland DH’s this season have a slash line of .220/.346/339 with three home runs and 41 strikeouts. Compare this to Manny’s career slash line of .312/.411/.585, and even at age 39, he should bring an improvement to the A’s at this position.
