Free agent pitcher Roy Oswalt has reportedly worked out for the Boston Red Sox and Philadelphia Phillies in the last week, and a return to the majors may not be that far behind.

Oswalt, who was acquired by Philadelphia in 2010 from the Astros for pitcher J.A. Happ and two prospects, Anthony Gose and Jonathan Villar, had his 2012 option declined by the club in the off season. He recorded a .280 BAA in 2011, the highest he’s allowed in his career.
Other teams will reportedly watch Oswalt throw over the weekend, but that list will not include the Tigers or Yankees.

The Cardinals were linked to Oswalt this past off season, with some reporting that he signed back in late January. The Rangers were also said to have interest in the three-time All-Star.

Oswalt’s back may be out before you know it.
Kaboom.
